PEACE IS BEAUTIFUL
Protests took place in a number of areas in Papua and West Papua in the aftermath of cases of racism against Papuan students in Surabaya, East Java. In fact, the security situation is not very conducive because of the destruction of buildings and cars by the masses. For example in Manokwari, a mob set fire to the West Papua DPRD building. Then in Sorong, West Papua, the mass had made the airport activities paralyzed. The cell was damaged so that the prisoners could escape.
In Jayapura, Papua, the action went peacefully. Even so, the amount of mass that took to the streets was classified as very much so that it had paralyzed local economic activity. The wave of protests in Papua and West Papua is the aftermath of events in Surabaya and Malang, East Java. At that time, the Papuan student dormitory in Surabaya was surrounded by various elements of the community because of their alleged red and white flag destruction.
From the two examples above, we can actually conclude that the demonstration, whether carried out peacefully or not, will only bring harm to all parties. Just look at the peaceful action that was carried out was also paralyzing economic activity that harmed the surrounding residents. If that happens, of course the demonstration does not invite sympathy, instead it makes the community antipathy.
The most appropriate action to be taken right now is introspection and reconciliation. Many proverbs say that peace is beautiful. That is indeed true because without peace, people will not be able to move normally.
