The Covid-19 pandemic has indeed dealt a blow to Indonesia, so that effective government policies and performance are needed to overcome the Covid-19 Pandemic. So far, the public has said they are satisfied with President Joko Widodo’s performance in dealing with the Corona virus.
The Indonesian Political Opinion Institute (IPO) shows the results of a survey on the level of public satisfaction with the performance of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in overcoming the Corona virus pandemic or Covid-19. As a result, 51 percent of respondents said they were satisfied with the performance of President Jokowi.
The IPO conducted the survey on November 29 – December 2, 2021 for 1,200 respondents. The survey method uses multistage random sampling (RMS) with a margin of error of 2.50 percent and a data accuracy rate of 95 percent.
The survey displays the findings of public perception of President Jokowi’s performance in handling the Covid-19 pandemic. There are three areas that influence respondents’ perceptions, namely, social, economic and political/legal. As many as 48 percent of respondents said they were satisfied in the social field, 53 percent in the economic field and 39 percent in the political/legal field.
Dedi Kurnia Syah Putra as the Executive Director of the IPO stated that there were not many changes between the current period and the survey period in August, namely the government’s performance in this case was the performance of the president, 51 percent were perceived by the public as satisfactory, 47 percent said they were not satisfied with the handling of the pandemic. which are divided in detail in the social, economic and political/legal fields. Dedi said that there were several voters for Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin in the 2019 presidential election, meaning that there were voters for President Jokowi who felt unsatisfied.
Meanwhile, 31 percent of respondents were satisfied with the performance of Vice President Ma’ruf Amin. He said 62 percent of respondents answered dissatisfied and 7 percent undecided. Satisfaction is influenced by three fields, namely economic, social and political/legal. As many as 27 percent of respondents said they were satisfied in the social field, 23 percent in the economic field and 31 percent in the political/legal field.
Meanwhile, a survey conducted by SMRC (Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting), in September stated that the level of public satisfaction with Jokowi had reached 68.5 percent, or decreased by 7.2 percent compared to the previous four months.
SMRC Executive Director Sirojudin Abbas explained that in the September 2021 survey, the majority of residents, or 68.5 percent, were still very or quite satisfied with President Jokowi’s work. Those who are less or dissatisfied are 29.5 percent and those who do not answer are 2 percent.
In line with the survey, the Kompas Research and Development survey explained that public satisfaction with the performance of Joko Widodo – Ma’ruf Amin in October only reached 66.4 percent, or a decrease of 2.7 percent compared to April.
In terms of economic recovery, the government is considered to have worked quite optimally. Several months ago, the Indonesian economy experienced a recession and economic growth reached its lowest point and touched a lower minus 5 percent.
Previously, Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the National Democratic Party (NasDem) Ahmad Ali in a written statement said, we should be proud of the government, because it is not easy to manage the country in a pandemic situation like this.
Ahmad said, it was not easy to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic without strong leadership. The reason is, the Corona virus has been proven to have an impact on various aspects, especially health and the economy. Disruption of the economic aspect will certainly have an impact on the security aspect. Many people have lost their jobs.
Although there are still shortcomings, he understands the shortcomings of the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin government. This is considered as something reasonable. Moreover, the Corona virus is something new, so scientists need time to research until they can create a vaccine.
According to Ahmad, there is still time to correct these deficiencies. Nasdem expressed its commitment to assist Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin in solving the pandemic problem properly.
Of course, the government’s performance should also be supported by the role of the community. Even though the PPKM has been relaxed, it certainly doesn’t mean that we can freely go out of our homes. Health protocols such as social distancing and the use of masks must remain a special concern so that the transmission rate can be reduced. Don’t let health protocols be ignored.
Dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic is not an easy matter, it takes foresight and patience in making every decision, so that the community can feel the benefits and the government’s alignment with the people.
