Some people were a little surprised when the duration of the PPKM continued to be extended. However, they must understand that the goal is good, because PPKM has been proven to reduce corona cases.
Since early July 2021, Java, Bali, and parts of Sumatra and several other places have been affected by PPKM. Micro-restrictions are strictly enforced and there are barriers at the borders between cities and provinces. In addition, the opening hours of markets, malls, and other public places are strictly limited, although recently there has been an easing of opening times.
The strict rules during PPKM shocked some people, but they had to understand why. Before PPKM was implemented, corona cases were getting higher, even reaching 50,000 patients per day, while we certainly don’t want to be exposed to this dangerous disease. So the only way is to limit community mobility during PPKM.
President Jokowi stated that the Covid case in Java was starting to sag. In a sense, PPKM really succeeded in fighting the ferocity of the corona. From the data of the Covid task force team, on July 24, 2021, there are still more than 49,000 patients per day. Meanwhile, as of July 29, 2021, there were more than 44,000 Covid patients.
This decrease indicates the success of PPKM.
The decrease in the number of patients occurs because when people’s mobility is limited, they are automatically lazy to go out of town. The reason is because there are clear barriers at the border. So that they cannot get corona from the red zone area or transmit the Covid-19 virus to other places.
Don’t forget the fact that many OTGs, who don’t feel sick, suddenly fall because of corona. So that if they stay at home, they will respond more quickly when they are dizzy and have a fever and then quickly get a rapid test or swab to know the results. Then they will find a room in the hospital or self-isolate for 14 days to recover their body condition.
Unlike when you are on a trip, you will be more ignorant of your health. But when he arrived, he suddenly collapsed and his life was threatened. Therefore, the restriction of mobility during PPKM is very important to prevent things like this. Life is only 1 while the trip can be done at any time.
President Jokowi added that the PPKM policy was taken because at the end of June 2021 in Java and Bali all regions were in red spots. So like it or not, this program must be implemented to reduce the number of corona cases. In a sense, the government is acting decisively by stopping mobility so that no tragedy occurs because of the corona.
People are already relieved when PPKM continues to be extended (don’t know how long), because they know the fact that this program can reduce the number of corona cases in Indonesia. So they don’t stick around, and even demonstrate against it. PPKM is carried out sincerely, because we all want to be healthy.
When carrying out PPKM level 4, the community also accommodates it by obeying the 10M health protocol, maintaining environmental health and cleanliness, and staying at home more often. Moreover, the office also stipulates a work from home policy and the children also go to school from home. They understand that all this is done so as not to get corona.
PPKM has proven effective in reducing corona cases. Therefore we must obey this program and stay at home more often. Don’t be desperate to break through restrictions just because you’re bored at home. Remember that corona can lurk out there and the delta variant of the Covid-19 virus is more dangerous, because it is the result of a double mutation.
