Onc again presidential candidate number 02, Prabowo Subianto issued an unfounded statement which caused controversy among the public. This time Prabowo calls many evil brains in the world of intelligence that often play a strategy of fighting sheep to divide the nation’s unity. Prabowo then explained his statement by taking an example of a terror case. Actors of terror cases can be labeled from a group of sympathizers of a particular religion even though this cannot be ascertained.
“Because in this world there are many cruel brains, evil brains that gather in the world of intelligence. So for example there are acts of terror, explosions, bomb blasts. Immediately stamped who did is Muslims. Even though it is not certain, Muslims can also be non-Muslims, “said Prabowo in the national consolidation of the Alliance for Enlightenment Indonesia (API) together with exponents of Muhammadiyah in Hotel Sahid, Jakarta.
Prabowo considered this a classic strategy called divide et impera, divide and rule, split and he had learned while still serving in the military.
Responding to Prabowo’s statement, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) ensured that the accusations were untrue. BIN Communication and Information Expert Staff, Wawan Hari Purwanto, said intelligence has a code of ethics and intelligence oath. Especially related to sensitive issues such as terrorism, when conducting evidence collection and deepening meetings it can be marathon and BIN involving various relevant ministries / institutions.
“Intelligence works professionally based on the law and supervised by the DPR as people’s representatives. So everything is accountable to the state. If there are allegations that the evil brain has gathered a lot in the intelligence world, that is not true, “Purwanto said.
In line with Purwanto, the Program Director of the National Campaign Team (TKN) of Jokowi-Ma’ruf, Aria Bima said that in the democratic era there were many instruments that oversee intelligence, such as NGOs, DPR and political parties.
“So if there is intelligence that is dirty, it is wrong to think, yes of course, by product will be criticized by all existing instruments. Intelligence loyalty is in figures, in the government, or in the state, it will also be seen in the products carried out, “said Aria.
Aria assessed that the former Kopassus Danjen was traumatized by the new order. Because, during the New Order era intelligence did not function as state intelligence, but intelligence from former president Suharto. Prabowo only saw intel in authoritarian and repressive times. While intelligence in the democratic era is currently under democratic governance.
Meanwhile, Spokesman for Jokowi-Ma’ruf TKN, Ace Hasan Syadzily also criticized Prabowo’s statement linking the evil brain in the intel world with the events of terrorism. He considered Prabowo to have no sympathy for the authorities, including intelligence, who had also been victims of the atrocities of acts of terrorism.
“Again, Prabowo lowered the intelligence’s ability to detect acts of terrorism. When all elements of the nation condemned terrorism, Prabowo lowered and accused intelligence as the mastermind. Obviously this cannot be justified, “Ace said.
In this democratic era, the task of intelligence is to provide as realistic information as possible with valid data for making a decision. The decisions taken are certainly decisions relating to the interests of the state and the interests of the people. So it is appropriate as a citizen, Prabowo does not lower the professionalism of Indonesian intelligence in carrying out his duties. Because, intelligence serves only for the interests of the state, not for the interests of power especially for the interests of the party.
BIN asserted that they were always obedient and neutral in carrying out intelligence tasks. Because there are already laws, ethics, and oaths that are the foundation. As long as this does not change, it can be ascertained the principle of implementing intelligence remains on the track. (fb)
