The Irrigation Clogged: The Agriculture Decreased

CIDISS – The irrigation channel in Luwuk Kanan village, Tasik Payawan sub-district, is clogged. This is caused by the limitation of tools and costs, and then, the farmers can only bite the fingers (sad). They hope, local governments can find the solution because there are a hundreds of hectares of rice fields that need irrigation.
Agriculture is the sector that most of the people do in Katingan. Based on the information, in Luwuk Kanan, there are about 500 to 700 hectares of agricultural land. The rice field project is considered as quite relevant, given the excellent of agricultural potential in the future.
It was stated by Vice Chairman II of DPRD Katingan, H Alfujiansyah. Alfujiansyah said, he got quite interesting aspirations in the village of Luwuk Kanan. For example, about the clogged irrigation channels and dams that is no longer functioning due to the destruction.
According to the local community, if not immediately repaired, it is feared, the rice field area will switch the function into a plantation. “This is what we do not want, so it needs a concrete effort from the local government,” said Alfujiansyah, quoted in kaltengprokal.co.
The people are desperate for the agricultural sector to back to life. Because of the various limitations that exist, then they have no able to do more.
“I have appealed to the village community not to divert the function of the rice field into a plantation because the government must have a reasonable purpose to make the rice fields in the village,” he said.
