A few days before the opening of the XX PON in Papua, security has been tightened, especially around the arena. The TNI and Polri troops also ensured that the event would take place very safely.
PON XX is a prestige because it is the first time it has been held in Papua. Therefore, the Provincial Governments of Papua and West Papua want this sports competition to run smoothly and without interference from any party. Security is also assisted by TNI and Polri troops, and they are compact to ensure that PON takes place successfully and with minimal errors.
Thousands of TNI personnel supported the National Police in securing vital objects and the opening ceremony of the XX Papua PON. Pasi Intel Kodim 1701 Jayapura Major Inf. Faisal said at least 1,500 TNI soldiers were deployed to secure Jayapura City and District. He also made sure the venue was safe. Security is carried out before, during, and after PON XX Papua.
Major Inf. Faisal added that the security of PON XX by law was assigned to the Police. However, the TNI will gladly help, as will BIN. In a sense, all parties collaborate to secure PON so that it runs smoothly and there are no errors, both from human and other factors.
Meanwhile, there are at least 9,000 police personnel deployed to secure PON XX. They proudly carry out their duty to protect athletes, officials, coaches, and all spectators of the match and the organizing committee. Police are friends of the people, therefore citizens must be defended from any attack. Security when PON XX becomes their concern.
The security factor in organizing XX PON is indeed prioritized, because there is a threat from KST, which since a few weeks ago began launching attacks. They terrorize soldiers on duty, and one of their goals is to distract attention. It could be that other KST troops are targeting the PON venue and will disrupt this event.
KST did not agree with PON XX from the start and they threatened to attack. But before this happened, TNI and Polri personnel would have been prepared. Let alone shooting arrows, seeing the XX PON arena is already very forbidden for them. The reason is because security is very tight.
Security around the PON XX venue is assisted by technology, namely drones. This mini plane will be flown to monitor around the competition arena, and it can reach up to a radius of 3 KM. Even drones are also equipped with sophisticated cameras, so they can monitor whether there is a potential crowd that will surely be dispersed, as well as identify who is on the blacklist.
This identification is very important because the officers already understand the faces of KST members, so that if they are caught on a drone camera, they will be picked up immediately. Guards are indeed very strict and precautions are taken, so that they do not disrupt the competition or the opening of the XX PON.
There was also assistance from the intelligence agencies who were spying on KST, so it was certain that their bad plans would not be carried out. TNI and Polri troops will be helped, and hopefully there will be no real attack from the terrorist group.
In addition to the competition arena, security is also carried out at the athlete’s guesthouse which is a place to stay for athletes, coaches, and officials. Those who come all the way from their province will be calm because they are always guarded by the authorities. So you can rest comfortably.
PON XX is a super big event and maintains Papua’s prestige, both at national and international levels. Therefore, this event will be closely guarded by TNI soldiers and Polri. Care is taken to the maximum so that there is no interference from KST.
