A team of Uni Eropa evaluate the handling of Land and Forest Fires
Choirul Fuadi, Central Kalimantan, CIDISS- The impact of forest fires and land in Indonesia has become an international issue. These conditions encourage some countries to find out about a variety of problems that occur in Indonesia.
“The problem of forest fires and land is not only actually happened here (Indonesia,), but also in European countries,” said Col. Bruno Maestracci ASEAN-EU Program Manager, as quote in Kalteng Pos, Thursday (5/11).
Col. Bruno Maestracci reveals, along with his team in particular visitation to areas which forest fires occurred, one of them in the Central Kalimantan province. The main goal is to find out from near the anticipation and handling in the field.
According to him, the European countries in the handling of fire is done entirely by the trained personnel. They are also equipped with sophisticated equipment and adequate, then the personnel responsible in full against any form of fires that occur in an area.
“So not only associated with the settlements, but also fire in a forest fire,” said Col. Bruno Maestracci who has nation of France.
Bruno mentioned, handling fire should not have been done in serious action. Therefore, he said, people must be trained and equipped with adequate equipment to handle land and forest fire.
“We really want to help in the effort of anticipation and handling fires in this land, but we also want to find out first about actions what has been done in handling all this time,” said Bruno being sufficiently fluent in Indonesia.
Over the past few days in Central Kalimantan, Col. Bruno Maestracci who accompanied his colleague Alex Kesper as Team Leader and Emergency Managemet Spesialist is also giving their time discussing with some NGO activists and among journalists. (*)
