Manado – Development of Nusantara Student Houses (AMN) in Manado, North Sulawesi, is designed as a modern and inclusive facility for students from various regions and colleges in Indonesia. The project is part of a national programme that includes the construction of six AMNs in various cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, Makassar, and Manado.
Nurdiana Habibie, Head of the Prasarana Hall of Settlements of Northern Sulawesi Province (BPPW Sulut), explained that AMN Manado will not only be a residence for students, but also a centre of activities that support self-development.
“AMN Manado will be equipped with dormitories for sons and daughters, a meeting building, a versatile room, a sports field, a park, road access, and a parking area,” Nurdiana explains.
Nurdiana also emphasized the importance of the support of all parties for the construction of the Manado AMN to go smoothly and successfully. “We very much expect support from all parties involved, so that the development of Manado’s AMN can go well,” he said.
The development of AMN at six locations in Indonesia, including in Manado, is the result of the collaboration of various ministries and agencies, such as the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), the Ministry of Defence, the ministry of PUPR, the Ministries of Education and Ristek, the Minister of Religion, and the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, as well as local governments and colleges.
All the students who live in AMN will inherit the values of the nation’s nobleness as well as national leadership values and national insights in a routine, programmed and continuous and sustainable manner.
The main objective of the construction of AMN Manado is not only to provide a decent home for students, but also to create an environment that supports academic development and skills. The Director of the Strategic Prasarana at the Ministry of PUPR, Mr. Essy Asiah, added that Manado AMN is expected to be a container to unite students from various ethnic, linguistic, cultural, and religious groups in Indonesia.
“The existence of AMN Manado is able to be a symbol of unity for students from various backgrounds throughout Nusantara,” Essy said.
With the support of various parties, AMN Manado is expected to be a symbol of the union of students from various tribes and regions in Indonesia, as well as a container to sharpen skills in various fields.
The project focuses not only on physical development, but also on an effort to create an environment that supports collaboration, creativity, and brotherhood among students. (*)
