Being in the Media Spotlight, Indonesia Initiates the AIS Summit to Handle Maritime Issues
Bali – The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) invites national and local media to organize the 2023 AIS Forum Summit activities which will be held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) Bali on 10-11 October 2023. Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie in his press release continue to monitor facilities that support telecommunications services through collaboration with national telecommunications service providers.
“The Ministry of Communication and Information ensures the smooth running of telecommunications services before and during the 2023 AIS Forum Summit through monitoring and providing adequate digital infrastructure,” said Budi.
In addition, the Ministry of Communication and Information provides supporting services in the form of a media center for reporting journalists as a platform for mutual cooperation in supporting the future of global maritime governance.
“The media center is officially operated at Tanjung Benoa Hall, Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) 2, Bali. “This platform provides various facilities to support the performance of reporting journalists,” explained Budi.
Meanwhile, the Director General (Dirjen) of Information and Public Communication at the Ministry of Communication and Information, Usman Kansong, explained that hundreds of local and foreign journalists had registered to take part in the 2023 AIS Forum Summit agenda.
“The media should work together to amplify the news about the AIS Forum so that the public can know and understand, especially regarding concrete examples of what has been done and the benefits of the AIS Forum for Indonesia,” said Usman Kansong.
Indonesia will host an international forum for island and archipelagic countries which is planned to be attended by dozens of countries.
According to him, holding the 2023 AIS Forum Summit in Indonesia will further strengthen world trust in Indonesia’s leadership in various international forums.
“In the last three to five years, Indonesia has gained confidence in holding various international forums, including AIS Forum activities,” said Usman.
Director of Economic and Maritime Information and Communication, Ministry of Communication and Information, Septriana Tangkary, said that the 2023 AIS Forum Summit is a forum for cooperation between island and archipelagic countries around the world with dozens of countries as members. He also said that holding this forum was an important momentum in showing Indonesia’s leadership.
“Indonesia’s participation in international forums is a form of Indonesia’s leadership in international events so that it becomes an opportunity to show Indonesia’s leadership at the world level,” said Septriana.
On the other hand, Deputy General Chair Coordinator for Maritime, Investment and Foreign Affairs at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Shinta Kamdani, also hopes that the AIS Forum Summit will strengthen the blue economy program.
“This AIS Forum can help strengthen the blue economy, thereby ensuring sustainable marine food reserves,” said Shinta.
The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) of the Republic of Indonesia is also tasked with ensuring the security and smooth running of the AIS Forum Summit, synergizing and collaborating with stakeholders regarding cyber and password security at this international event.
BSSN spokesperson Ariandi Putra said that his institution had prepared a cyber and password security task force to ensure smooth running before and during the 2023 AIS Forum Summit in Bali.
“We have prepared the security task force to optimize the implementation of BSSN’s duties and functions in the field of cyber and password security, as well as smooth running before and during the 2023 AIS Forum Summit in Bali,” he said.
