Post MK Court Decision: Prioritizing Unity, Avoiding Disunity
By: Rudi Ilham *
In social political life, the political elite should be a role model for creating social harmony in society. Political elites should not use the people to achieve their political ambitions, which can lead to division. The peace that is currently accompanying a hearing on the results of the general election disputes
The Constitutional Court should be maintained. If the political elites do not provoke, then the riots of May 21-22 2019 will never happen. The riot was a manifestation of actions that severely endangered the people just to fulfill their uncontrollable ambitions and lust.
The excesses of the presidential election and 2019 legislative elections, in the form of a dichotomy that led to social divisions due to differences in political choices and culminating in riots on May 21-22, are extraordinarily expensive political costs that must be borne by this nation. Therefore, we appreciate the presidential-vice-presidential candidate Prabowo-Sandiaga, who through videotape, has appealed to all his followers to restrain themselves, be patient and peaceful.
The candidate pair # 02 also asked his followers not to mobilize the masses after the MK verdict was read.
Based on Prabowo’s request, if there were parties who carried out mass movements, both during and after the verdict of the trial, it meant that they were not from the Prabowo-Sandiaga camp.
This means that there is a third party fishing in turbid water, and it is the duty of the National Police and the TNI to deal with it. Our hope for political elites is that they should prioritize unity and avoid division of the people. The people as legitimate owners of this republic must not be sacrificed by power-hungry political elites.
