Appreciation of President Prabowo’s MSME Debt Elimination Policy

Jakarta – The policy of debt cancellation for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) initiated by President Prabowo Subianto has received widespread appreciation from various groups.

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal said that his party appreciates and welcomes President Prabowo’s policy regarding debt relief for MSMEs. According to him, this policy will make sluggish MSMEs grow again.

“This debt cancellation will certainly have a positive impact, MSMEs can be reborn (grow again) so that it will help our economic growth,” said Cucun.
Cucun also said that the policy taken by President Prabowo was the right step. According to him, debt cancellation is one of the efforts to maintain the economy.

“In the midst of the many storms of layoffs that have recently occurred and the challenging dynamics of the economy, MSMEs can be a social safety net. So that debt relief for MSME actors and community groups in the real sector such as farmers and fishermen can maintain the Indonesian economy,” he said.
Then according to Cucun, protecting MSMEs from financial difficulties also means maintaining the wheels of the country’s economy. This is because MSMEs have a fairly dominant role in the national economy because they have succeeded in contributing around 99% of the total business units in Indonesia.

“In addition to opening up many jobs and contributing to GDP, the existence of MSMEs will also turn the wheels of the economy in a region. And when the region advances, the welfare of the community will increase so that intervention is needed for MSMEs that are currently slumping,” explained Cucun.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, assessed that the debt cancellation policy for MSMEs is able to strategically boost the Indonesian economy.

“This is a strategic policy to encourage sectors that play an important role in food security and the national economy,” said Sri Mulyani.

In addition, he considered that the decision was also a manifestation of the government’s commitment to ensuring the sustainability of MSMEs while opening up opportunities for these sectors.

“This is also the government’s commitment to support the sustainability of MSMEs and open opportunities for these sectors to become more empowered and independent because their role is very important for the nation and state,” said Sri Mulyani.

With this policy, President Prabowo’s commitment to fighting for the welfare of the people and ensuring that no economic element is left behind in development is further emphasized. (*)
