Papua — The Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building has now been inaugurated by President Joko Widodo. With the inauguration of this building, it is hoped that it will become a forum for increasing human resources in Papua.

“This morning I really feel very proud because at that time the request of 23 young Papuans to have a room to improve the quality of human resources can be seen together at PYCH Jayapura,” Jokowi said in his speech at the inauguration of the PYCH Building in Jayapura, Tuesday (21/3/2023) .

Jokowi added that the construction of PYCH would be a place to create creativity and new businesses in the fields of fashion, creative industries, animal husbandry and fisheries.

“We are building this Papua youth creative hub. We want to provide opportunities for our young people who have creativity to have innovations, a great desire to be active in the fields of fashion, creative industries, animal husbandry, fisheries,” Jokowi said.

On the other hand, a Papuan religious figure, Pastor Albert Yoku, said that the role of the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) community in improving the welfare of the Papuan people needs to be appreciated.

“The younger generation is our strength, and this PYCH community, which was mandated by the president and fostered by BIN, is the golden generation going forward. So we encourage accelerated development for the welfare of the Papuan people together, collaboratively,” he said

Furthermore, Pastor Albert said that he would continue to coordinate with the PYCH community in various fields, including improving science and technology, national insights to the economic field such as animal husbandry.

Meanwhile, PYCH community administrator Brigitta Hisage stated that livestock development was only one of the many community empowerment programs being carried out by the community.

PYCH livestock, added Briggita, has ranged from chickens, pigs to cows. Brigitta herself is a laying hen breeder with the business name ‘Brijid Farm’.

“Before starting a laying hen business, I joined the PYCH community, we carried out many activities under the guidance of BIN,” he said.

He stated that his business, which had not even been one year old, could progress to having 1,000 chickens. Brigitta targets the addition of chickens this year to reach 5,000 chickens.

“Every month the turnover from laying hens is around IDR 52 million, then deducting feed and employee costs. The net profit every month reaches IDR 30 million,” said Briggita

Not forgetting, Brigitta thanked all parties who have supported her efforts so far and invited the Papuan children to continue working hard.

“I thank my family, PYCH colleagues, President Jokowi and the Head of BIN, Pak Budi Gunawan, for the support given. I invite young Papuans to join the PYCH community, in order to improve our human resources,” said Brigitta.
