Choirul Fuadi, Central Kalimantan, CIDISS – The Creativity of Indonesia’s citizens in the development of the SDA needs appreciation, either by the Government or society. Recently, residents of the Sub-District of Hanau, Seruyan Regency, Central Kalimantan, Suhardi (56) successfully developed a new type of durian tree.
Like quote in Borneo News, Thursday (29/1/2016), the durian is the result of crossing or mutation between durian Monthong seedlings with local durian, i.e Durian Gading from Riam Gading, Tumbang Manjul, and district of Seruyan Hulu.
Suhardi said that durian results on the experiment can bear fruit twice a year. “If the usual durian bears fruit once a year, then durian of crossing could bear fruit twice in a year,” said him.
Further, four-year-old durian trees are also capable of producing fruit range between 400 to 500 fruits per tree.
The story begins in the year 2012, Suhardi try to crossing of eight trees, but the tree only lived four. However, when the age of the new four-year-old tree has been fruitful and fruit produced in numbers quite a lot.
Durian trees are now already 15 centimeters in diameter with a height of four meters capable of producing a better fruit quality, i.e. a thick orange flesh of the fruit with seeds deflated and the taste is sweet.
