Security Forces’ Commitment to Eradicating Drugs According to President Prabowo’s Direction

Jakarta – In accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s direction, the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating drug trafficking throughout Indonesia. The ranks will act firmly in taking action against drug trafficking.

The Chief of the Republic of Indonesia National Police (Kapolri), Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that in order to strengthen efforts to eradicate narcotics, his party ordered his staff to take firm action against all narcotics distribution.

“Map the entry routes of drugs that have become very disturbing and have caused capital outflow, and take firm legal action against various new modes, drug villages, including those controlled from prisons,” said Sigit in his statement

The Chief of Police also said that he would provide rewards and punishments to all police officers related to drug eradication.

“I will give rewards and punishments for those who achieve great achievements in making disclosures. I will appreciate them, and for those who do not make disclosures, I will evaluate them,” said Sigit.

Previously, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of firm action against drug networks that are destroying the younger generation and creating security disturbances. Responding to the directive, the Chief of Police said the Police would strengthen law enforcement strategies, increase training for officers, and utilize the latest technology to detect and overcome drug trafficking.

“The war on drugs is our collective responsibility. The National Police will commit to not only arresting the perpetrators, but also educating the public about the dangers of drugs,” said Sigit.

Then the Chief of Police also invited the public to play an active role in reporting suspicious activities related to drugs. With strong determination and cooperation, the Police are optimistic that they can reduce the number of drug trafficking and realize a drug-free Indonesia.

“Cooperation between the Police and the community is the key to success in eradicating drugs. Let’s protect the young generation and our nation from the dangers of drugs,” concluded Sigit.
On a different occasion, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) agreed to cooperate with a number of telecommunications service providers (PJT) to strengthen efforts to Prevent and Eradicating Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN). This cooperation aims to utilize telecommunications technology to support P4GN efforts in Indonesia.
The scope of cooperation includes dissemination of information and education about P4GN, early detection of drug abuse, and utilization of communication resources and technology to improve the operational effectiveness of BNN.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Head of BNN RI, Marthinus Hukom, together with the Director of Network PT Telekomunikasi Selular, Indra Mardiatna, from PT Indosat Tbk, Reski Damayanti, from PT XL Axiata Tbk, Yessie D. Yosetya and from PT Smart Telecom, Merca Fachys.
Head of BNN RI Marthinus Hukom, said that efforts to prevent and eradicate narcotics are one of the national priorities in line with the Asta Cita of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, namely strengthening political, legal, and bureaucratic reforms, as well as preventing and eradicating corruption and narcotics.
“To realize this, it is necessary to increase intelligence strength and one of the efforts we are making is strengthening cooperation by signing an MoU with telecommunications service providers,” said the Head of BNN in his official statement, Wednesday (10/30/2024).
Furthermore, the Head of BNN RI said that in the current digital era, collaborating with telecommunications service providers is a very strategic collaboration.
According to him, technology has a vital role in detecting and tracing information related to narcotics crimes.
“We live in a digital era where technology makes it easier for us to get information in seconds. Cooperation with telecommunications service providers is very important to support our efforts to uncover and eradicate narcotics crimes,” said the Head of BNN RI.
