Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), Rycko Amelza Dahniel emphasized that the Indonesian Government had made every effort to free Pilot Susi Air who was hostage of the Papuan Separatist Terrorist Group (KST) in Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains.
All efforts have been made maximally by the Government of Indonesia to resolve the issue regarding the Papuan Separatist Terrorist Group (KST) which continuously commits terror.
Not only the government, the people of Nduga Regency themselves are fed up with all the series of terror spread by the Bringas gang led by Egianus Kogoya, because they not only terrorized residents, but also killed innocent people. And this has violated Human Rights (HAM).
Rycko added that the government, which became the task force, namely the combination of the TNI, Polri, BNPT, BIN, and various ministerial institutions had also tried to save Pilot Susi Air in various ways. However, this matter requires a mature strategy.
According to Rycko, the issue of violence in Papua has now become the focus of the media, therefore the media should help push for peace by stopping violence there. With the help of media friends, it is hoped that peace can be realized.
However, various methods have been carried out, including negotiations with KST Papua, ranging from a gentle approach to a hard way. Right now what is more important is to save the hostages from the clutches of KST Papua safely and securely, without involving other civilians.
Since the presence of KST Papua, residents of Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains have felt deep suffering due to the terrors carried out by them. Especially when Captain Philip Mark Mehrten was taken hostage by the group led by Egianus Kogoya. This is what then makes residents feel extraordinary threats.
Pangdam XVII/Cendrawasih Maj. Gen. TNI Izak Pangemanan also stated the same thing regarding the efforts that had been made in the mission to rescue the Susi Air Pilot hostage. The local government is currently working and continues to be encouraged to seek the release of the pilot for the peace of the people. The reason is, as a result of this hostage-taking, society also suffers.
Furthermore, Izak said that residents were forced to leave their beloved hometown to take shelter from the terror that was spread by KST Papua and look for a safe place. According to information circulating, some of the residents fled to Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency.
Of course, the whole incident of a series of heinous and barbaric acts carried out by the separatist group in Bumi Cenderawasih made all the people very worried. This also includes how they took the hostage-taking of the pilot from the airline Susi Air, which is worried by the indigenous Papuan people (OAP) because there could be a potential for firefights to further threaten the safety and security of local residents.
Knowing what the psychological condition of the people in the Land of Papua is, then the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Admiral Yudo Margono, stated that his party would never carry out direct attacks using military force to invade KST Papua in an effort to carry out evacuation missions, rescue and the release of the pilot captain named Philips Mark Mehrtens, a New Zealand national.
Instead of using violence and a military approach, the ranks of the security forces will continue to put forward a very humane approach with a process of opening very wide spaces for communication and negotiations so that the separatist gang led by Egianus Kogoya is expected to be willing to release their pilot hostage so that they don’t get killed. fell victim and everything went smoothly and safely.
The negotiation process with the leader of KST Papua, Egianus Kogoya, is also continuing without any time limit. The reason why the ranks of the security forces in Indonesia are reluctant to approach with military force in efforts to free the pilot is because it is to prevent innocent civilian casualties from occurring.
In fact, in the effort to process a series of negotiations and open a wide communication space to KST Papua, the ranks of the security forces did not participate directly there because they feared it could trigger tension, so the process was assisted by the Acting (Pj) Regent of Nduga, Edison Gwijangge.
All efforts to carry out the evacuation, rescue and release of the Susi Air pilot who was held hostage by the Papua Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST) continue to be carried out as optimally as possible. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) itself has also carried out all strategies so that the liberation efforts can run smoothly and peacefully.
