Ahead of the Inauguration of PYCH, President Jokowi Encourages the Development of Papuan Human Resources
Jayapura – One of the Government’s efforts to develop the quality of human resources (HR) for young Papuans is through the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH), namely a center for the development of young talents which is projected to become a forum for gathering outstanding young HR from Papua.
Ahead of its inauguration, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) hopes that PYCH will become the driving force as well as the center for the development of young Papuan talent. He is sure that young Papuans have a lot of potential for development. According to him, there are many superior seeds and excellent Papuan talents in various fields.
“I believe there is still a lot of untapped and undeveloped potential. That is our duty, both in Papua and West Papua. There are many excellent seeds in the fields of science, arts and culture and in the field of sports. And this is a big task for all of us to prepare good and orderly management,” said Jokowi in Jayapura City, some time ago.
The same thing was conveyed by the Regent of Manokwari Hermus Indou. He hopes that the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building will become a center for developing the quality of Papuan human resources (HR).
“We hope that the building will eventually become the leading sector for the development of Papuan human resources,” he said
His party continues to encourage the young generation of Papua to be more creative and innovative in developing regional potential into jobs. This level of creativity will later change the perspective of the younger generation of Papua on employment which has been monotonous in the government sector.
“So that young Papuans can be independent and not only hope to become civil servants,” added Hermus.
He emphasized that the local government should have replaced the pattern of giving cash to the community with capital assistance for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Every MSME actor who receives capital assistance is responsible to the local government to return the capital because it will be rolled out to other MSME actors.
“This revolving fund assistance is part of the process of educating the Papuan people so they can be independent and more innovative,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Coordinator of Inspiring Young Papuans (PMI) for West Papua Province, Simon Tabuni explained that the PYCH building is used for self-development, interests and talents so that the young generation of Papua can contribute to advancing the region.
His party is also committed to becoming the motor for the development of indigenous Papuan MSMEs from various sectors such as coffee, sago, crafts, and so on.
“When young people move through creative ideas, then development will run,” said Simon.
