Elements of the Dayak Community Support the Relocation of the National Capital

The relocation of the National Capital City received full support from various elements of the Dayak community. They believe the relocation will bring positive changes, not only for Kalimantan but also for Indonesia.
When our mother was about to be transferred from DKI Jakarta to Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, many were surprised because it was the first time she saw her. However, they did not object, they were just amazed when they saw such a detailed relocation plan. It is hoped that when the capital is moved to another island, there will be many positive things that come with it.
Dayak Kenyah traditional figure as well as an elder in East Kalimantan, Drs Laden Mering, S.H, M.H stated that the Dayak tribe strongly supports the development of the nation’s capital city in East Kalimantan. No society is against it. Laden also hoped that Dayak figures would sit down and be involved in the construction of the new capital city because they could be the driving force behind its construction.
In a sense, the relocation of the national capital is fully supported by many parties. Not only the local government in North Penajam Paser, but also the Dayak people as natives of East Kalimantan. If there is support then the transfer will certainly run smoothly because there are no conflicts.
Efforts to minimize conflict are indeed very important because they do not allow the displacement to end in a war between tribes. If there is support from the Dayaks themselves, then there will be no friction due to SARA or fights due to competition between immigrants and natives.
Meanwhile, support also emerged from Kutai community leaders. Haji Aji Pangeran Haryo Kusumo Puger, Member of the Advisory Council of the Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate, stated that the Sultanate was building the state capital in Penajam Paser Utara. However, keep in mind not to set aside local culture. With the state capital in Borneo, it will strengthen the nation’s culture and mutual respect and strengthen friendship.
H Aji Pangeran Haryo Kusumo Puger added that the government must pay attention to customary land because it is an ancestral heritage. Some of the customary lands of the Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate were given voluntarily to become the capital of the new state.
In a sense, the Kutai Kertanegara Sultanate has been kind enough to give their customary land, because they are willing to sacrifice for the progress of Indonesia. However, these lands must be properly cared for. In a sense, land must be used for its function and should not be misused.
The support from the Dayak and Kutai Kartanegara communities is very valuable because they as the indigenous tribes living in Kalimantan act as hosts. The government has a higher position than the kingdom, but respects each other. So that there is a mutually beneficial cooperation.
The Kingdom of Kutai Kartanegara and the indigenous Dayak people supported the construction of the new capital city because they realized that this would advance Indonesia and the people of Kalimantan in particular. Later, a representative highway will be built so that people’s mobility will be smoother.
If there is support from the native people of Borneo, it is certain that the relocation of the national capital will go well. There are no problems because all parties support this transfer sincerely.
While the relocation of the nation’s capital city from Java to Kalimantan is still in preparation, the support from the Dayak and Kutai Kartanegara communities as hosts is very valuable. They are aware that this transfer will have a positive impact. So that they willingly give some of their customary lands for the sake of Indonesia’s progress.
