Jakarta – President Jokowi paid a working visit to Penajam Paser Utara which will be used as the location for IKN Nusantara. He holds a commitment in building IKN so that it becomes a proud modern capital city. Apart from that, there is also the development of human resources (HR) so that the people of Kalimantan are also more advanced.
The national capital (IKN) will be moved from DKI Jakarta to North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. The construction of the capital city is a big project that cannot be done in just a few months, but it is predicted that it will take more than 5 years for the Indonesian people to have a beautiful and modern IKN.
What about the IKN development design? For the size of a capital city, the design must be serious, because the soil typology and contours in Kalimantan are very different from those in Java. Artists, urban planning experts and civil engineers work together to create an IKN that is neatly arranged and at the same time loves the environment.
President Jokowi visited Penajam Paser Utara, which will be the location of IKN Nusantara, on 23 February 2023, with the aim of reviewing its construction. On February 22, he first visited Balikpapan and gave a lecture at the Balikpapan Sport and Convention Center.
President Jokowi stated that the main reason for the construction of IKN was equity in terms of economy, population, and development. Everything is in Java, 58 percent (economic GDP), and 56 percent of Indonesia’s population is in Java. How densely populated the island of Java is that it needs something called equitable development that is not Java-centric but Indonesia-centric
On this occasion, the President also emphasized that relocating the capital city was not just a physical relocation related to government buildings or buildings. Instead, the transfer of work culture and new mindsets is accompanied by well-prepared systems and human resources.
When visiting the IKN on 23-24 February 2023, President Jokowi monitored the progress of the housing development of the ministers. He also plans to build a soccer training center at IKN Nusantara.
President Jokowi added that the IKN project will be completed in the next 15 to 20 years and IKN will become a government city. This new capital (Nusantara) is really a capital that other countries don’t have, other countries don’t have.
In a sense, IKN Nusantara will have many magnificent buildings built, such as the Presidential Palace and ASN residential towers. However, development in IKN is not only in physical form. But also human resources (HR).
When community human resources are developed, the people who benefit are the people of Kalimantan, especially East Kalimantan. They will be more advanced thanks to the trainings held by the government.
The Governor of East Kalimantan Province H Isran Noor said increasing the competence of human resources (HR) is very much needed in sustainable development which covers all aspects of people’s lives. Because quality human resources can provide a multiplier effect on regional development.
Governor Isran continued, increasing the capacity and quality of superior human resources is our joint task in creating a strong nation, because through superior, tough and good quality human resources physically and mentally it will have a positive impact on increasing regional competitiveness in supporting the development of East Kalimantan and especially development Archipelago Capital (IKN),
Human resource development at IKN began with providing training to residents of North Penajam Paser, Sepaku and its surroundings. As local residents they are prioritized to gain knowledge and skills. It is hoped that with this program, the human resources of the indigenous people of Borneo will be even better.
Hamdan Pongrewa, Acting (Plt) of North Penajam Paser Regent, stated that the training conducted by the government was attended by 144 participants. They are residents of Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency. Competency-based job development training is conducted to welcome job opportunities at IKN.
When IKN Nusantara, there will be many job vacancies, and local Kalimantan residents are given priority to get training, so they have high skills and are ready to work. Even though there are migrants, they still compete in the world of work. Don’t let them be spectators in their own home. Indigenous people are guaranteed not to be marginalized by the government.
Plt Regent Hamdan added, there are other opportunities for the Sepaku people, because they are located close to the National Archipelago National Park. They can supply crops and various other basic needs to new IKN residents.
In a sense, the indigenous people of Kalimantan are prioritized and their human resources can increase rapidly thanks to the training. The government does not only focus on physical development (in the form of buildings). But also human development alias residents in IKN and its surroundings.
President Jokowi is fully committed to building IKN Nusantara into a modern, sophisticated and green capital city. He directly observed the construction of the IKN so that the project would run smoothly going forward. Development is also given to human resources in Kalimantan, so that people are more advanced and skilled.
