Public Order and Security Conduciveness for Papua 2024 Pilkada Guaranteed, Security Forces Strengthen Readiness

PAPUA — The security and public order (kamtibmas) conduciveness in the implementation of the 2024 Papua Regional Head Election (Pilkada) is guaranteed, all ranks of the security apparatus continue to strengthen their readiness.

Liaison Officer (LO) of the Papua Mountains Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Pol Andi Yoseph Enoch together with the PJU Polres and its members held assistance in order to create a conducive situation and conditions ahead of the 2024 Pilkada.

Kombes Pol Andi explained that the assistance was part of the process of monitoring the implementation of security duties.

“As the Head of the Mantap Praja Operation Task Force for the Papua Mountains Regional Police, I am here to also carry out assistance activities at several related Polres,” he said.

“By reviewing the readiness of the ranks in terms of the national agenda of Operation Mantap Praja Cartenz – 2024 election of the Regent and Deputy Regent of Tolikara Regency,” added Kombes Pol Andi.

Furthermore, the security forces continue to strive to build togetherness with various parties such as community leaders, religious leaders and local traditional leaders to work together in synergy.

This synergy is to be able to maintain public order and security which has been running well so far.

“We all hope that all the processes of the 2024 Pilkada can run smoothly, especially in the Papua Mountains region which is a very vulnerable area,” said Kombes Pol Andi.

“So that we all pray together to God that all the Pilkada Process on November 27 until the determination runs well without any social conflict in the community,” he stressed.

On the other hand, in relation to supervision, the South Papua Province Bawaslu involved indigenous Papuans (OAP) to participate in supervising the implementation of the Pilkada.

The Division of Prevention, Community Participation and Public Relations of the South Papua Bawaslu, Muhammad Muhajir, said that the South Papua Bawaslu cannot work alone without involving elements of society.

Therefore, his party involved various stakeholders, including indigenous Papuans.

“The goal is to minimize violations in regional head elections. We are very sure that by involving elements of society we can together uphold election justice,” he said.

“We are jointly overseeing the democratization process of regional head elections in South Papua,” he concluded.
