Ahead of Inauguration by President Jokowi, AMANAH Involves Students as Agents of Environmental Change
Aceh – The inauguration of the Aneuk Muda Aceh Unggul dan Hebat (AMANAH) Building by President Joko Widodo is getting closer to the day of implementation. The approach to the inauguration which is located in Ladong, Aceh Besar Regency, is getting more lively with various creative activities.
One of the activities that attracted attention ahead of the inauguration was President Jokowi’s commitment to environmental preservation through various educational programs and socialization on waste management. One of the programs supported was an initiative carried out by Aneuk Muda Aceh Unggul dan Hebat (AMANAH) with the theme “AMANAH Goes to School.” This program is a concrete step in an effort to form a young generation that cares about the environment, especially among students of SMAN 16 Banda Aceh.
The socialization and education related to waste management is in line with the vision of the Jokowi government which prioritizes sustainable development and increasing environmental awareness in the community. The involvement of students as agents of change is expected to accelerate the achievement of the government’s goals in overcoming the waste problem which is still a major issue in Indonesia.
The “AMANAH Goes to School” activity received an enthusiastic response from the students. The socialization and education on waste management carried out is part of a cleanliness program aimed at increasing environmental awareness among students.
In the activity, AMANAH collaborated with Malahayati Vision, a youth community active in the social and environmental fields. Malahayati Vision provided material on the negative impacts of waste on environmental damage and effective waste management strategies.
Siti Farika, a representative from Malahayati Vision, hopes that this socialization can change the behavior of the younger generation in managing waste. “We are very happy to see the enthusiasm of students when we socialize environmental issues, especially the impact of plastic waste,” explained Siti Farika.
Students are invited to play an active role in maintaining cleanliness and preserving the environment. Before that, they are given education about the types of waste and the dangers of pollution caused by waste that is not managed properly.
AMANAH encourages students to get used to sorting waste based on its type before throwing it away. “Waste that has been sorted will be processed together with AMANAH, so that it is no longer thrown away without processing, but is instead turned into something useful,” added Siti Farika.
To support this movement, AMANAH provides facilities in the form of dropboxes or special waste disposal sites in schools, so that waste management can be done more easily. Students are also involved in waste sorting practices and making recycled products, such as plant pots from plastic waste, to deepen their understanding of proper waste management.
In addition, AMANAH and Malahayati Vision also announced plans to form an environmental club at SMAN 16 Banda Aceh. This club will focus on education and campaigns for cleanliness and environmental preservation in the school and its surroundings.
With this program, it is hoped that environmental change agents will be created from students who are able to contribute positively to maintaining environmental cleanliness and sustainability, in line with the grand vision of President Jokowi’s government in sustainable development. []
