Ahead of the 43rd ASEAN Summit, the Government is finalizing all preparations
Jakarta – The government continues to finalize preparations for the Southeast Asian Nations Summit or the 43rd ASEAN Summit which will take place in Jakarta on 5-7 September 2023.
This was conveyed directly by President Joko Widodo who ensured that all preparations for the 43rd ASEAN Summit continued to be maximized, so that everything was ready at the time of implementation.
“Everything has been planned, everything has been prepared, and we hope that later at the ASEAN Summit everything will be one hundred percent ready in September,” said the President.
Likewise, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi explained that preparations for the 43rd ASEAN Summit were in accordance with the planned targets.
“So far, preparations are on the right track. Negotiations for the final documents are being continued,” said the Foreign Minister.
He added that from July 31 to August 5 2023, ASEAN had held a series of Seniors Official’s Meetings (SOM) in Bali.
“We have held SOM meetings for a full week. There, the negotiation process continues. So, everything is on the right track. We will later announce to the media what will result from this summit,” he said
The 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta next September will be attended by many parties. Not only attended by the leaders of ASEAN member countries, but the 43rd ASEAN Summit will also be attended by heads of state/government of ASEAN partner countries such as Australia, China, India, Japan, and others.
A number of discussions at the ASEAN Summit included the Southeast Asian Nuclear Weapon Free Zone (SEANWFZ) and the South China Sea. As the host, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has worked closely with the Central Government to ensure the readiness of all existing infrastructure and facilities, including road repairs in Jakarta.
Regarding this, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Bina Marga Data and Data Center, Wiwik Wahyuni, said that several roads were being repaired. A number of roads include Jalan Rasuna Said, roads in the Halim area, roads in the ASEAN office area, and roads around the Presidential Palace.
“The DKI Jakarta Bina Marga Agency continues to improve, making several improvements both in terms of existing infrastructure in the DKI Jakarta area, roads such as Halim to Slipi, then the ASEAN Office lane to the State Palace and the Rasuna Said route which will be passed by delegates from Southeast Asian countries. he said.
