The Governor of North Sulawesi Province (Sulut) through the Provincial Secretary (Sekprov) Steve Kepel revealed that the construction of the Nusantara Student Dormitory located in Manado itself is based on Presidential Regulation 106 of 2021 concerning AMN.
Apart from that, previously the Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) had also built a similar building located in the City of Heroes, Surabaya, and in the future it will continue in 6 locations throughout the country, such as Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Malang to Makassar, including Manado. which is currently taking place.
The main aim of building the Nusantara Student Dormitory itself is as a forum to unite all young people from tertiary institutions or university students who come from various regions throughout Indonesia, including those in remote areas of the country such as indigenous Papuans (OAP).
So with this noble goal, in the future young people who live under the same roof in the same dormitory even though they have different backgrounds, it is not impossible that they will get to know and appreciate each other’s culture.
Not only that, Deputy Chair of the AMN Manado Working Group (Wakapokja) from the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Idham Maliuk, added that the entire young generation of the nation’s successors will also be increasingly able to maintain harmony and cohesiveness in order to strengthen relations between the nation’s children within the framework of the Unitary State. As a forum for uniting young people from all groups without distinction, all students and female students there are very diverse. Various ethnic groups, languages, cultures, religions and regions in Indonesia meet and unite through AMN Manado.
Furthermore, when all young people are full of a sense of tolerance, mutual respect and acceptance even in the midst of extremely diverse and even quite significant differences, the government hopes that they will become young human resources (HR) who are superior and of high quality.
The reason is, through the Nusantara Student Dormitory, the Government through the BIN initiative is really trying not just to build facilities or physical work, but also to become a symbol of a very strong commitment to creating a conducive learning environment for them.
Because with a conducive learning environment, students from various regions in Indonesia will be able to learn, be creative and even collaborate with each other in order to realize a significant step in fully supporting the Indonesian Government’s vision of creating a superior young generation so they are ready to compete in the world. national and even international arena.
Regarding the importance of the spirit of diversity, especially if young people have adopted this attitude from as early as possible, followed and implemented it, according to the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI), Bambang Soesatyo, this means that young people will be able to maintain national unity in amidst diversity.
If unity continues to be maintained, this country will be able to ward off various other possible threats such as terrorism, radicalism, transnational ideology and narcotics. Apart from that, the Indonesian nation, which will soon face threats to democracy in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada), will become even more solid.
Harmony in national life is very important, because it allows this country to ward off various problems. Therefore, all young people should be able to realize how great Indonesia is as the largest archipelagic country in the world which is so rich in diversity and differences.
Indonesia consists of more than 17 thousand islands that pass through 3 different time zones with a wide expanse between Sabang to Merauke which also includes more than 280 million people consisting of more than 1,000 ethnic groups with more than 700 different regional languages and a diversity of customs and religions. , beliefs are all different from each other.
