Beware of Further Provocations After the KNPB Demonstration, Together to Realize Security and Community Security Stability

By: Abisai Wamang

The public is advised to remain alert to further provocations following demonstrations or demonstrations by the West Papua National Committee (KNPB), because only by working together solidly, the stability of security and public order (kamtibmas) will be fully realized.

The unity and unity of all elements of the nation is a very important key to realizing stability in social security and order. Therefore, the entire community should continue to be aware of the potential and risk of further provocation, especially after the KNPB demonstration occurred.

The reason is that the implementation of demonstrations or demonstrations by the KNPB turned out to be chaotic and even resulted in casualties, both from civilians and security forces. The riots during the demonstration were none other than the result of provocation efforts by a handful of irresponsible parties who wanted to disrupt the stability of security and social order.

For information, they usually commemorate a historical moment every August 15, namely the New York Agreement which took place in 1962.

The New York Agreement itself is an agreement by the United States (US) to transfer power over West Papua from the Netherlands to the bosom of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) through the United Nations Temporary Executive Authority (UNTEA).

Therefore, every August 15, KNPB invites all parties to participate and hold demonstrations or demonstrations. They continue to spread various propaganda and provocations by calling August the month of racism.

Apart from that, the provocation they echo is as if until now the Papuan people are a people colonized by the capitalist state system, so they continue to hold demonstrations.

Following provocations, propaganda and also demonstrations which actually ended in chaos and resulted in casualties, one of the Papuan Traditional Leaders, Herman Yoku, firmly asked the KNPB or any irresponsible group that was behind them to stop these efforts to divide and create public understanding. towards the New York Agreement becomes blurred.

In fact, so far, if there are still invitations, provocations and propaganda to people who reject the New York Agreement, it is an attempt to deceive the Papuan people because it is a step to distort existing facts.

Regarding demonstrations or demonstrations which then lead to anarchism, it is clear that this is something that violates the law and disturbs public order. Instead of doing this, the community should work together to achieve stability in social security and order.

In August, which is part of a series of commemorations of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), the public should interpret this momentum well and not do things that are contrary to the law.

As for the New York Agreement itself, it has actually been a very real solution even from a long time ago, namely with the existence of West Irian Autonomy. In fact, this is the first recognition of autonomy that the Papuan people have received as well as being a final and legal solution.

So, the community, especially the younger generation, should be able to focus more on the future of the region nicknamed Bumi Cenderawasih in various fields such as education, development and advancing their hometown.

Together, all elements of society should be able to welcome the celebration of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia by continuing to maintain conducive peace and order (kamtibmas).

Meanwhile, the Acting (Pj) Governor of Central Papua Province, Dr. Rebekah Haluk issued an important appeal to the community to work together to maintain the security and comfort of the area.

All parties, both from the government and society as well as security forces, need to work together to create a sense of security and comfort in their respective areas. Moreover, the government itself has also established a new autonomous region (DOB) to improve the welfare of local residents.

Therefore, it is very important for all parties to remain united to maintain unity and unity. Everyone has the same responsibility to ensure that regional life runs well.

On the other hand, Tabi Youth Leader, Paul Ohee, strongly rejects the provocation and propaganda from the KNPB because so far such incitement and invitations to demonstrate are not in line with the spirit of development in the Land of Papua.

The firm action of the security forces then received full appreciation and support from various parties so that any group that tried to continue making Bumi Cenderawasih unfavorable could be controlled.

However, not only the government and security forces, but all elements of society must continue to work together to be wary of the efforts of certain groups who are clearly using it for their own interests while continuing to spread provocation and propaganda after the KNPB demonstration. By bringing all these aspects together, it is not impossible that security and social security stability will be achieved optimally.
