BIN Post Relentlessly Holds Trauma Healing for Children
Cianjur — It’s been more than 2 weeks that the earthquake survivors have been staying at the BIN Post, Cijedil Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur. Many survivors also invited their children to take shelter at the BIN command post. To reduce the feeling of trauma in children, especially after the earthquake, BIN often organizes trauma healing activities to entertain them.
One of the activities carried out in collaboration with the Mojang Jajaka Cianjur Association. In this activity, children are invited to play and interact together, as well as provide education to children regarding basic knowledge. Coordinator of Mojang Jajaka Cianjur, Kuroini Milla (25) said this activity had been carried out since the first day after the Cianjur earthquake. “We set up posts in the Cipanas and Cianjur areas, as well as visiting other posts based on requests via Instagram Direct Message (DM) or via WhatsApp (WA),” said Milla.
“We have also carried out two trauma healing activities at the BIN Command Post, and the children’s enthusiasm has increased. Previously, the children were still awkward, but now they are more open, they look more excited and happier,” he added.
With this activity children can be entertained and reduce their feelings of trauma, because aftershocks still frequently occur in the Cianjur area. “Through activities like this we also hope that they (earthquake survivors) can reduce panic when aftershocks occur and the children can always be cheerful,” he concluded.
The same thing was also conveyed by Mojang Jajaka Cianjur’s teaching staff, Annisa Talenta (23). The woman who is familiarly called Nissa conveyed her first experience, but it was also a pleasant moment because she could see the children smiling and laughing happily.
“The children looked enthusiastic about participating in this activity, they were entertained, laughed cheerfully so they could forget the traumatic events they had experienced. Maybe for future activities we will improve the quality and quantity. So that children can be more active in participating in this activity, “he concluded.
