Chairman of PITI Appreciates Jokowi’s Infrastructure Development as a Legacy for the Nation

PITI General Chair Dr. Serian Wijatno assessed that President H. Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) leadership during his two terms has left a good legacy for this country.

“In October 2024, H. Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will resign from his position as President of the Republic of Indonesia, which he has held for two terms. From his two terms of leadership, it is enough for us to assess him as a leader with implementative abilities, flexible, and ready to accept input, advice and even criticism. He is also optimistic, non-reactive, including to different opinions from political opponents. So that he is able to fully focus on carrying out his leadership in the right direction to achieve the best for the interests of the nation and state,” he said in Jakarta, Friday (27/9).

For example, the development pattern starting from the Village, Frontier and Outermost Regions and the Relocation of the National Capital (IKN) proves that Jokowi has a development philosophy with a vision of equitable distribution.

Likewise, with the massive and intensive infrastructure development, according to Jokowi, it is none other than because he wants to accelerate the mobilization of society and the distribution of goods and services.

Then in the energy sector, Serian said that Jokowi had made an extraordinary history. “For example, Freeport was made more profitable for the country and then Petral was dissolved during his leadership. Meanwhile, the European Union was in a panic when the export of basic nickel materials was stopped and we built a domestic nickel factory. This is proof that Jokowi has carried out the mandate of the 1945 Constitution Article 33 paragraph (2) and paragraph (3) which emphasizes that branches of production that are important for the country and that control the livelihoods of many people are controlled by the state,” he said.

Therefore, he hopes that the next replacement leader, Prabowo Subianto, will be able to continue his attitude, vision and courage in leading.

“The next leadership, namely Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, was able to realize Jokowi’s next development target. Because in truth, that is the legacy of the leader,” he concluded.
