Closing IAF and HLF-MSP, Indonesia Turns Challenges into Opportunities to Address Inequality Through Collaboration and Innovation

Bali – The 2nd Indonesia Africa Forum (IAF) and the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) officially closed today in Bali. The successful event strengthened cooperation in building strategic partnerships to face global challenges, including efforts to strengthen cross-sector collaboration to address disparities in development funding, including for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Deputy for Politics, Law, Defense, and Security of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Bogat Widyatmoko stated that the holding of the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) and the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF MSP) 2024 encourages innovative global collaboration.

“With the theme ‘Strengthening Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships for Development: Towards a Transformative Change,’ this forum facilitates all stakeholders in creating innovative solutions and real actions, so that Global South countries can achieve sustainable progress,” said Bogat.

HLF MSP and IAF have succeeded in becoming a platform that brings together stakeholders from around the world to design a more inclusive and sustainable future, in accordance with the Bandung Spirit which has been the foundation since 1955.

Previously, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi appreciated the active participation of all delegations from various countries, international organizations and the private sector.

“This forum has produced various important agreements that will strengthen relations between African countries and Indonesia, said Retno.

“The 2nd Indonesia Africa Forum and the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships have achieved their goals of strengthening collaboration between countries and presenting innovative solutions to global challenges,” said Retno Marsudi.

Indonesia is committed to continuing to cooperate with African countries in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting sustainable and inclusive development.

Participants expressed their appreciation for Indonesia’s leadership in organizing this forum and emphasized the importance of continuing the dialogue and cooperation that has been established.

This event also became an important momentum for Indonesia to demonstrate its commitment as a “bridge builder” or a bridge connecting developing and developed countries. Indonesia succeeded in facilitating constructive dialogue and encouraging closer cooperation among stakeholders.

For your information, Indonesia has succeeded in reaching an investment agreement in the energy sector with a total investment value of US$1.5 billion at the 2nd Africa Forum (IAF) in Bali which was held on 1-3 September 2024.

Director of Africa, Directorate General of Asia, Pacific and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) Dewi Justicia Meidiwaty, explained several agreements reached, including the signing of a training contract between PT. Pertamina Training & Consulting (PTC) and Petrofound Namibia which will be conducted at the Integrated Drilling Training Center (IDTC), Indonesia.

“One of them is the commitment to cooperation between Mozambique and South Africa through a Memorandum of Understanding between Buzi Hydrocabon Pte Ltd and Guma Africa Group Ltd. regarding the exploration and commercialization of Buzi EPCC gas,” he said.

With various cooperation commitments that have been agreed upon, it is hoped that it will further strengthen the cooperation relationship between Indonesia and Africa to welcome a shared future for the alignment of the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045 and the Africa Agenda 2063.

With the end of the 2nd IAF and HLF MSP, it is hoped that relations between Indonesia and African countries will become closer and more productive, and will be able to make real contributions to peace, security and development at the global level.
