Closing the 43rd ASEAN Summit, Indonesia Encourages the Emergence of Various Agreements

JAKARTA — Ending very smoothly, Indonesia’s chairmanship of the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta has resulted in many agreements to lead to prosperity throughout the region.

Officially, Indonesian President Joko Widodo has closed the entire series of the 43rd ASEAN Summit. He admitted that he was very grateful because all activities ran well and smoothly to continue to have a good impact on everyone.

“Thank God, the 43rd ASEAN Summit and other summits have been carried out well and smoothly, even in the midst of a difficult situation, Indonesia’s chairmanship has achieved many things as an effort to maintain regional stability and prosperity,” he said.

Furthermore, the Head of State emphasized that all the leaders who were present had a shared responsibility to continue to promote peace and create space for dialogue.

“I convey that every leader present has a shared responsibility not to create new tensions,” he said.

“At the same time, we also have a responsibility to reduce heated tensions, melt the frozen atmosphere and create space for dialogue,” explained President Jokowi.

According to him, this is very important because if tension continues then it is clear that this world will be destroyed.

“I guarantee that this world will be destroyed if conflicts and tensions in one place are brought to bear and become a force of attraction in another place. “If we are unable to manage our differences, we will be destroyed, if we are carried away by the flow of rivalry, we will be destroyed,” said the Head of State.

On the same occasion, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Retno Marsudi added that during Indonesia’s Chairmanship of the ASEAN Summit, all pillars to support achieving the Epicentrum of Growth continued to be strengthened.
“During Indonesia’s chairmanship, the pillars that can support the epicenter of growth were all strengthened, such as food security and energy security,” he said.

Even though it turns out that there are many differences, it turns out that all parties still maintain optimism about being able to work together.

“Once again amid sharp differences, there is still hope and there is still optimism to work together,” said the Foreign Minister.

Of course, how the declaration that was successfully achieved in the implementation of the 43rd ASEAN Summit will continue to bring benefits to all of humanity.

“The resulting declaration concerns the epicenter of growth which benefits millions of people in Southeast Asia and beyond,” said Retno Marsudi.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that one of the important pillars to be able to meet the goal of becoming an Epicentrum of Growth is the existence of an agreement regarding economic digitalization.

“One of the mainstays of Epicentrum of Growth is the digital economy framework agreement, which includes in-depth agreements regarding digitalization including digital talent, digital id, cyber security, infrastructure, retraining,” he explained.

“If without this the economy in ASEAN is estimated to be 1 trillion in 2030, it could increase to 2 trillion,” he concluded.
