Constructive Criticism, Appreciation of Jokowi Government’s Performance in Bringing Change
By: Chandra Budi Setyo
The President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Joko Widodo (Jokowi), who has been leading the government for the past 10 years or decade, has been able to bring about many very positive changes for the country, so that his performance deserves high appreciation.
However, of course the government’s success will not be realized if it does not receive full support from all levels and elements of society itself.
One of the things that allows the public to actively participate in helping the government achieve its performance is by continuing to provide constructive criticism, not provocation efforts or propaganda to spread discrediting hoaxes.
In fact, criticism itself is an important element, especially in a country that adheres to a democratic system like Indonesia. Moreover, the existence of healthy criticism can clearly continue to encourage the government to be much better in the future, then improve if there are still shortcomings and serve all people without exception more effectively.
On the other hand, criticism that is not balanced with constructive intentions can actually turn into propaganda and provocation efforts that are clearly very damaging. In this context, it is very important for all elements of society to be able to understand how to criticize constructively, not in a way that belittles or even discredits, both President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his family.
On the other hand, high appreciation and full support are also very important to appreciate the real performance of the government, especially under the leadership of President Joko Widodo for the last 2 terms or 10 years, which has been proven to have succeeded in bringing about many positive changes for the nation and state.
The Head of State outlined the development achievements that the government has successfully achieved over the past 10 years, as well as efforts to make Indonesia more prosperous and equitable.
During President Jokowi’s leadership, the government has succeeded in building a new foundation and civilization through a development approach that is Indonesia-centric in nature or paradigm, no longer Java-centric or only centered on the island of Java.
This is clearly a very real breakthrough and one of the real proofs of positive changes in the era of President Jokowi’s leadership during his 2 terms of government, because it makes the government develop from the outskirts, villages and outermost areas.
Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the President’s Special Staff (Stafsus), Ari Dwipayana, revealed that data from the results of the Kompas Research and Development survey which showed an increase in public satisfaction with the Joko Widodo administration was real evidence of how highly appreciated all elements of the community were for the good performance of the government.
No half measures, even the level of public satisfaction with Jokowi’s government continues to increase, from previously at 73.59 percent, now to 75.6 percent. In the midst of the world’s economic and political uncertainty, it turns out that the level of public satisfaction continues to increase.
This appreciation provides additional energy and motivation for the government to continue to complete various priority development agendas and is able to ensure that performance in all sectors improves.
Another example of how the government is performing under President Jokowi’s leadership is the success of building the Indonesian National Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan (Kaltim), which clearly has an impact on development progress in Indonesia.
Member of the Penajaman Paser Utara (PPU) Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), Muhammad Bijak Ilhamdani said that the development of the IKN in East Kalimantan also received support from various elements of society because it allows actors or the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector to also develop.
All elements of society are increasingly optimistic about the development of the new Indonesian IKN, which can ensure development progress in accordance with the expectations and hopes of the people.
IKN itself is a real manifestation of changes in Indonesian civilization by presenting an Indonesia-centric development concept, so that development and high regional economic figures are no longer only concentrated on the island of Java, but become more evenly distributed.
Indonesia really needs an active and critical society as a country that uses a democratic system in its government, but it should not just be criticism, but citizens should be able to ensure that their intention is to build, not destroy.
Therefore, society should be able to avoid all forms and kinds of provocative efforts that do not bring any good at all and replace them with a greater focus on how to make a positive contribution to national development.
By giving high appreciation to the real performance that the government has shown, especially under the leadership of President Jokowi so far, the people are not only showing their full support for the progress of the country, but also participating in maintaining the stability and unity of the Indonesian nation.
