Elements of the Papuan Community Welcome Youth Empowerment Through PMI and PYCH

Papua – The government’s strong commitment to empowering Papuan youth through Inspiring Young Papua (PMI) and the construction of the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) Building has received positive responses from various elements of society.

One of the appreciations came from the representative of Inspiring Young Papua (PMI) Maria Fransisca Tambingon who supports the Government’s efforts to encourage the development of the people’s economy in Papua.

“In 2022, I will meet with PMI and share experiences and knowledge with existing friends. Until now, we have 4,000 laying hens under the guidance of PMI and BIN (State Intelligence Agency),” said Maria.

The woman who was born in Biak, October 11, 1995, said that the profit from laying hens is quite large, although managing it is not easy because it also has ups and downs.

“The average profit is 50 million per month. The eggs are sent to Jayapura and to the interior of Papua,” added the woman who was a Miss Indonesia finalist in 2014.

These professionally managed chicken farms are scattered, namely in Kab. Manokwari has 4 units, Jayapura has 3, Fak-Fak 2, Jayawijaya 2, Biak 2, Sorong 1, Keerom 1 and Nabire 1. Not only that, PMI has also been involved in various other empowerment programs such as fisheries, livestock and agriculture in some areas in Papua.

Not to forget, Maria invites all the young generation of Papua to continue to innovate and also synergize together in developing existing potentials.

In this regard, a charismatic religious figure in Papua, namely Pastor Alberth Yoku thanked President Jokowi and the Head of BIN who have given extraordinary attention to Papuan youth to avoid social problems such as alcohol and drugs.

“The presence of PYCH is a very helpful answer to overcome all social problems and opens opportunities for MSMEs and independent creative businesses that will be carried out by youth in the six new provinces,” he said.

Alberth assessed that the existence of PYCH was expected to be able to develop the talents and talents of the young generation of Papua. Not only that, youth empowerment is also expected to be able to give birth to many entrepreneurs to manage existing natural resources.

In the same vein, Member of the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP), Dorince Mehue advised that every party always love the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

“I see dynamics and phenomena that are contrary to the state or the 4 pillars of nationality where we must maintain our ideology as Pancasila, the Constitution, and must build our love for the Indonesian nation and maintain Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” he concluded.
