Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Indonesia Committed to Strengthening Strategic Cooperation with Africa
Bali – Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, said that the Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) is a strategic forum for Indonesia to demonstrate its role and leadership in Africa.
“This IAF Forum also further confirms that the spirit of Bandung (Bandung Spirit) of the 1955 Asian-African Conference is still relevant in fostering solidarity for development assistance to support the 2063 African development goals,” said Mauludiah.
According to him, countries in the African region are generally post-conflict countries or are still experiencing conflict so that they have vulnerabilities, both in terms of politics and economy. The development and economic challenges faced by the African region will also have an impact on achieving global development goals.
“Indonesia is committed to strengthening development cooperation with Africa to improve welfare and independence in the region. Especially to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and can contribute to the achievement of the African Agenda 2063,” he said.
Mauludiah also emphasized that in an effort to realize the two development goals, Indonesia and African countries will strive to design cooperation policies with the demand-driven principle in the provision of grants by the Indonesian Government to suit the needs in the African region.
“This proves that Indonesia really wants to ensure that the assistance provided to the African region is meaningful and impactful, useful in realizing development progress in Africa,” he said.
Mauludiah added that African countries are considered to have great potential to become strategic partners of Indonesia in terms of economic and trade cooperation. It is hoped that this cooperation can further strengthen Indonesia’s collaboration with the African region so that it has a positive impact on shared prosperity.
