Indonesia will host the International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024, which will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on 5-6 September 2024. This prestigious event marks a major step in global economic innovation and sustainability.

This year’s ISF event covers five main pillars: energy transition, green industry, biodiversity and nature conservation, sustainable living, and the blue economy. In the momentum of the opening of the ISF at JCC Senayan, Jakarta, President Jokowi emphasized the importance of changing the global approach in dealing with the climate crisis, considering that the challenges faced by the world cannot be solved with the old methods.
President Jokowi said that climate change will never be resolved as long as the world still uses an economic approach that only calculates profits and prioritizes the egos of each country.
At the same moment, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that this forum is very relevant to the issue of global sustainability, and Indonesia has a unique narrative and an important role in supporting global climate action. ISF 2024 is a platform for innovation, collaboration, and hope, and emphasizes the importance of collaboration in the sustainability agenda.
Not only that, ISF 2024 aims to discuss various aspects of sustainable development and involve all parties, including the government, more than 100 business actors, and more than 10 educational institutions both nationally and internationally. This event is a strategic platform to accelerate innovation and collaboration in achieving global sustainability goals.
On the other hand, Dion Wiyoko, a famous actor and also the Ambassador of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024, shows his commitment to sustainability issues. In addition to being widely known in the world of acting, Dion now plays a key role in encouraging the community, especially the younger generation, to care more about the environment. This initiative is part of a collaboration between the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
As an advocate for ISF 2024, Dion Wiyoko focuses on inviting the young generation of Indonesia to actively participate in efforts to overcome air pollution and other environmental problems. He emphasized that the role of young people is very important in leading change towards a better future.
Chairman of Kadin Net Zero Hub, Dharsono Hartono, emphasized that Indonesia needs collective collaboration from all parties to maximize the potential of renewable energy (EBT). In his view, Indonesia has a very large potential for renewable energy resources, with two main types, namely geothermal and solar energy, which can play a key role in the country’s energy transformation.
Hartono also revealed that Indonesia’s geothermal potential is the largest in the world, with a capacity of up to 29 thousand megawatts (MW). This potential places Indonesia at the forefront of global geothermal energy utilization. In addition, Indonesia also has extraordinary solar energy potential, with a capacity of up to 207 gigawatts (GW). This potential shows that the country has sufficient resources to support the shift towards a green and sustainable economy.
According to him, investment in renewable energy across Southeast Asia is expected to reach $40 million by 2030, reflecting a strong shift towards cleaner energy sources. This statement shows that there is a major shift towards clean energy in the region, which opens up great opportunities for Indonesia to actively participate in this trend.
Progress in the renewable energy sector requires collective support and a strategic approach to ensure that Indonesia’s vast potential can be effectively optimized. With strong commitment and collaboration, Indonesia can lead the clean energy transition and contribute to achieving global targets to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate climate change.
