Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) plans to include the results of discussions from the 2024 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) in a white paper that is being prepared to be submitted to the new government. This step shows the business world’s commitment to supporting sustainability programs as part of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

Deputy Coordinator for Maritime Affairs, Investment, and Foreign Affairs of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Shinta Kamdani, emphasized that sustainability is one of the main issues on the Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s agenda.

“In this ISF 2024 event, it is hoped that we can produce substance that will help us formulate the white paper more concretely for the next government,” said Shinta.

ISF 2024, the second edition, was attended by various stakeholders from both developed and developing countries. This forum aims to discuss various issues related to sustainability and climate change mitigation. One of the main focuses is international collaboration in addressing the climate crisis and increasing access to green finance.

This forum is also expected to be able to produce innovative solutions that mobilize financial and non-financial resources to accelerate the achievement of sustainable growth. In addition, the results of the ISF are expected to provide strategic input in compiling the Kadin white paper which will be a reference for the new government.

In the white paper, Kadin will propose a number of recommendations to support the economic development program for the 2024-2029 period. This document includes views from business actors, investors, and academics on strategic economic issues of concern for the next five years.

Shinta explained that there are three main issues that are the focus of the Kadin white paper, namely optimizing strategic sectors that can drive growth, strengthening the capacity of national MSMEs, and increasing the welfare of the middle class.

“We hope that with this economic policy white paper, Kadin can strengthen and make the 2025-2029 development program a success,” he added.

In addition, this white paper is also directed to support the implementation of Astacita and 17 priority programs proposed by the president-elect, Prabowo Subianto, with the hope that sustainable economic development can run in line with Indonesia’s long-term vision.
