President Jokowi Appreciates PYCH Youth Fostered by BIN at Papua Street Carnival
Papua – President Joko Widodo officially opened the Papua Street Carnival which was held in the Papua Governor’s Office area, Jayapura City, Friday (7/7)
“By asking for the blessings and grace of God Almighty this morning, I officially declare the Papua Street Carnival opened and started,” said the President.
During the event, President Jokowi was accompanied by the Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) General Pol (Purn) Prof. Budi Gunawan to Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno.
According to President Jokowi, it is believed that the young generation of Papua will make many big leaps. This was marked by the implementation of the Papua Street Carnival which showcased many superior products.
“Ladies and gentlemen, if you don’t believe me, please enter the exhibition site and see for yourself how the so-called packaging of Papuan products, whether it’s coffee, whether it’s smoked fish and other products related to fashion designers, is really a very visible leap,” said the President. Jokowi.
Not only food and drink, the younger generation who have been fostered by BIN’s Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) are also active in creating a variety of technology products.
“Then also in addition to the minister of parekraf producing cellphones, producing this laptop is not done in western Indonesia but in eastern Indonesia in the land of Papua, a leap,” said the president
The success of BIN’s PYCH also received appreciation from Menparekraf, Sandiaga Uno. According to him, PYCH has revived the Papuan economy since it was inaugurated several months ago.
“Together with BIN, we, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, are collaborating with the Papua Street Carnaval. This is a form of Gercep. The President’s swift move in March. The President ordered that at Yunike’s request, Papua should have the class of Jember Fashion Carnaval. Within 3 months, our designers will prepare this event,” said Sandiaga .
Since it was inaugurated, added the Menparekraf, a number of events at PYCH have succeeded in attracting visitors. In fact, his total income touched the billions.
“Since the inauguration of PYCH there have been many events attended, Papua Kopi Expo 6 thousand visitors in 4 days, expo launching activities and total income for 3 months can be above IDR 2.6 billion. PYCH designers who have made 94 costumes will appear later,” he said.
Menparekraf also hopes that in the future many state officials will use PYCH products.
“But hopefully later there will be more and more ministers, governors, Governors of West Papua who will also use PYCH’s works for everyday use,” he concluded.
