President Jokowi Raises Young Acehnese Farmers Through AMANAH at Jamboree Makmur 2024
ACEH – Hundreds of young farmers fostered by the Aneuk Muda Aceh Unggul Hebat (AMANAH) program gathered in the 2024 Makmur Jamboree held in Aceh. This event is a collaboration between AMANAH run by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) and Pupuk Indonesia. The jamboree was held at the Rindam Iskandar Muda Field, Aceh Besar, and brought together young farmers from various regions in Indonesia, from Aceh, West Java, to Papua.
The AMANAH program is strongly committed to developing the agricultural sector in Aceh, with the aim of encouraging the younger generation to be actively involved in the world of agriculture.
Chairman of the BIN Strategic Analysis Council (DAS), Lieutenant General TNI (ret.) Dr. Muhammad Munir, in his press conference conveyed how important the role of the younger generation is in realizing food self-sufficiency in Indonesia.
“Here BIN is committed to participating. With all the shortcomings and limitations, participate. Especially talking about Aceh,” said Muhammad Munir.
Jambore Makmur initiated by Pupuk Indonesia is in line with the spirit of the AMANAH program. This event aims to utilize the demographic bonus by empowering young farmers who have great potential in the agricultural sector. Through this activity, young farmers are invited to exchange information and knowledge about agriculture in their respective regions. This exchange is expected to build a network of young farmers throughout Indonesia, which can then advance the agricultural sector nationally.
In the press conference session, Muhammad Munir also explained that the AMANAH program has seven leading sectors that are the main focus. One of them is the agricultural sector, which aims to empower young farmers from all over Aceh. This program is not only about providing training, but also creating an ecosystem that allows the young generation of Aceh to innovate and increase productivity in the agricultural sector.
Muhammad Munir emphasized the importance of synergy between the AMANAH program and other similar programs, such as the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) which has been successfully implemented in Papua. The two programs are expected to work together to strengthen national food security.
“Indonesia is vast, big. Like the Garuda bird, if the eastern wing is Papua, the wings that stretch in the western region are Aceh. If these two wings are healthy, strong, superior, then the Indonesian Garuda bird can fly freely very high. This is our hope,” said Muhammad Munir.
Jamboree Makmur 2024 provides a great opportunity for young farmers to learn and develop.
One of the participants, Bella Kusuma, who is a millennial farmer fostered by AMANAH, expressed her joy in joining this event. She feels that the AMANAH program has succeeded in inspiring and motivating the young generation of Aceh to enter the world of agriculture.
“What is expected for the agricultural sector for these young millennials, they are a bit embarrassed if they become farmers. What is expected is to build the spirit of young farmers to move in a more advanced agricultural sector, which can compete in the international arena,” said Bella.
One of the goals of the AMANAH program is to eliminate the stigma that the profession of farmer is not attractive to the younger generation. Through various training and activities such as Jambore Makmur, AMANAH has succeeded in introducing agriculture as a sector that has great potential to be developed, especially in the context of modern agriculture that uses technology and innovation.
Through collaboration and innovation, AMANAH is expected to continue to be the main driver in improving the quality of human resources in Aceh and bringing Acehnese agriculture towards a brighter future.
