Sleman – The United Development Party (PPP) will determine the direction of its support for the 2024 elections by announcing the name of the presidential candidate after an agreement at the Rapimnas on Tuesday (25/4). Acting Ketum PPP Muhamad Mardiono has prepared his cadres throughout Indonesia to close ranks in facing the 2024 election contestation.
“PPP is currently very open in the 2024 election contestation, including in supporting the 2024 presidential and vice-presidential nominations. With the dynamics of national politics that are running very dynamically, we must be ready to cooperate with internal and external parties for common goals for progress and mutual benefit,” said M.Mardiono on the sidelines of the V PPP Rapimnas V in Sleman Yogyakarta Tuesday (25/4/2023)
There will only be one name that will be announced by the acting chairman of PPP, Muhamad Mardiono in Yogyakarta. Apart from discussing the support for presidential candidates and coalitions, the Rapimnas also discussed preparations for prospective legislative candidates.
“God willing, tomorrow it will be announced between 13.00-17.00 WIB at the location of Rapimnas V together with the people’s market event. Discussion of the presidential and vice presidential candidates has indeed surfaced and a decision has been made from the assembly meeting stage,” he said.
On the same occasion, Secretary General of PPP Arwani Thomafi, said that all cadres apart from having to prepare legislative candidates from the DPR RI to DPRD levels and also having to prepare presidential and cawapres candidates.
“The political parties have declared several names that they will be running as presidential candidates. Although it has not been officially declared, several names have also appeared as vice presidential candidates. PPP, which is currently part of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB), must take strategic steps so as not to lose momentum,” he concluded.
