Supporting the Emergence of Young Talents, President Jokowi Inaugurates the PYCH Building in Jayapura
Jayapura – The Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on Tuesday (21/3/2023). The building is a form of initiation by Papuan youths who work together with the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to produce young talents from Eastern Indonesia.
In his remarks President Joko Widodo said he was proud because the request of the young Papuan generation to have space for self-development and creativity has been realized in PYCH. In fact, the President of the Republic of Indonesia has instructed that similar facilities be built in other regions.
“This is the first in Indonesia in Papua, I ask that it also be built in NTT, in West Papua, then in Maluku and Aceh starting this year, so that it will be completed next year by imitating everything here, this is very good,” said the President .
Not only that, the Head of State also appreciated the exhibition of various products from the young generation of Papua who are part of PYCH. These products include mobile phones, laptops, podcasts, music studios, and photography.
“If this continues, young people in other provinces will be left behind by young people in Papua,” the President added
Furthermore, President Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia’s current development is not Java-centric, but Indonesia-centric. And the Land of Papua is a priority for the development being carried out.
On the same occasion, Head of BIN General Police (Purn.) Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan, SH, M.Sc., Ph.D. stated that Papua has a special place in President Jokowi’s heart. Therefore, through the momentum of the inauguration of PYCH it is hoped that this will become a valuable legacy from the President.
“Through the inauguration of PYCH, it will become the President’s Gold Ink Legacy in Papua,” said the Head of BIN
The Head of BIN continued that the construction of PYCH was a commitment to build a Papuan talent center as a driving force for Papua’s economy and prosperity. The idea came from 23 Papuan youths when they met President Jokowi in 2019.
For this reason, it is hoped that the inauguration of the PYCH Building will become a milestone for Papuan youth to create jobs, develop business, and the economy and arts and culture.
During the inauguration ceremony, the President was accompanied by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and a number of other important national and regional figures.
