The situation in Papua and West Papua has become increasingly conducive. The community has also been able to carry out normal activities like before the riots a few weeks ago.
National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian and TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto immediately flew and have offices in Papua since 3 September 2019. Their existence is a tangible manifestation of the state in providing security guarantees to all Indonesian people from Sabang to Merauke. The presence is sweet fruit, because people in Papua also gradually carry out their activities as usual.
Kapendam XVII / Cenderawasih Letkol Cpl. Eko Daryanto, who ensured the presence of the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief, also cut the coordination path, so that decisions regarding reconciliation in Jayapura could be made quickly.
He said that the Papuan people could see the presence of the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief as a form of the country’s seriousness to stabilize the security situation in Papua and West Papua.
After the demonstration that took place in Papua, the people lost their trust in the country. Until finally the National Police and the Commander in Chief then took quick steps by sending joint personnel to Papua.
Tito Karnavian revealed, there were 8,000 personnel, consisting of the TNI and Polri to maintain the peace of the land of Papua including the Provinces of Papua and West Papua, after the demonstrations led to anarchism.
He said, the presence of thousands of personnel in Papua was one step to bring the situation back to normal quickly.
Tito said that the current large number of troops in Papua was a quick step for security forces to take to guarantee security for the people. In addition, security forces will also be plotted to a number of locations of vital objects in Jayapura.
The former Papua Police Chief said that the community must again believe that the situation had been guaranteed by the security forces of the TNI and Polri.
He also added that his presence together with the TNI Commander in Papua was aimed at directly checking whether the deployment of troops was in accordance with the needs on the ground.
Their presence is certainly not to frighten the people of Papua, rather their presence wants to provide security for Papua and West Papua. Chairman of the Papua Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB) Papua Rev. Lipius Biniluk said, only this time the figure of the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief were in an area for quite a long time.
He considered that the presence of the two generals and their troops was none other than to restore the Papuan security situation to normal.
Besides Lipius, an appreciation was also expressed by Papua Governor Lukas Enembe. He considered their presence is evidence of the country’s speed in responding to the development of the situation in Papua.
The two figures also initiated the “Joint Declaration of Agreement in the Context of Safeguarding Papua Land of Peace” in Switzerland – Bell Hotel Jayapura.
The declaration was attended by the Governor and Deputy Governor of Papua, the Chairperson of the MRP, the Speaker of the DPR, the Mayor of Jayapura, the Regent of Merauke, representatives of religious leaders, traditional leaders, community leaders and youth leaders.
The Chief of Police and the TNI Commander also held meetings with religious leaders and several regional heads, they toured Jayapura waters using KRI Oswald Siahaan 354.
Meanwhile, the Jayapura District Police Binmas Unit has carried out a cooling down in the Batu Putih community of Numbay Kelurahan, South Jayapura District led by Kasas Binmas AKP Pieter Kendek, S. Sos., MM.
On that occasion Pieter responded to the post-incident that had occurred several days in the Jayapura city area, the police hoped that citizens could respond wisely and were expected not to be easily provoked by issues that were not necessarily true, aka Hoaxes, because the riots were triggered by people – people who want to divide brotherhood through social media or unclear information.
One concrete effort that we can do in creating the conduciveness of this nation is, by knitting unity regardless of ethnicity, religion and race, this becomes important, because from Sabang to Merauke, Indonesia is a country with a variety of cultural diversity, language and skin color.
Of course we also play a role in efforts to maintain conduciveness in Papua, the Government has shown serious efforts in maintaining security and order in Papua, with the sending of additional troops and efforts to dialogue with figures in Papua, an optimal combination in increasing security in Papua .
