World Water Forum 2024, Focus on Clean Water for All

Bali – The 2024 World Water Forum in Bali is an ideal platform to strengthen the global commitment to equal access to clean water for everyone, especially those in remote or marginalized areas.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that his party invited the world to join hands to overcome water problems.

“The world can join hands to increase collaboration in overcoming global water challenges,” said President Jokowi.

President Jokowi also said that Indonesia’s commitment to play a role in overcoming this water problem is in a sustainable manner.

“Indonesia is hosting the 10th World Water Forum to strengthen joint commitment and formulate concrete actions for inclusive and sustainable water management,” said President Jokowi.

Apart from that, President Jokowi also said that Indonesian people have a cultural value towards water, one of which is the Subak irrigation system in Bali which has been practiced since the 11th century, and is recognized as a world cultural heritage.

“For the Balinese people, water is a glory that contains spiritual and cultural values ​​that must be managed together,” said President Jokowi.

This, the President continued, is in line with this year’s theme, namely water for shared prosperity, which can be interpreted as 3 basic principles, namely avoiding competition, prioritizing equality, and inclusive cooperation as well as supporting peace and shared prosperity.

Meanwhile, the President of the World Water Council (WWC), Loic Fauchon, said that the 10th WWF in Bali provided momentum for increasing cooperation in water management globally.

“All relevant parties must encourage global water sustainability and support water sovereignty through changes in all aspects,” said Loic Fauchon.

Furthermore, according to Loic Fauchon, real action is needed to provide access to clean water to everyone. Fauchon also emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation which is essential to maintain policies to strengthen global water security.

Previously, the President of WWC, Loic Fauchon, expressed his praise regarding the organization of the 10th WWF which was held in Indonesia. Fauchon assessed that WWF’s preparations in Bali were the most professional compared to previous WWF events.

“Since its inception 30 years ago, this is the most professional, I have ever seen,” said Loic Fauchon.
