The Separatist Terrorist Group (KST) in Papua often creates chaos, besides that they often disrupt community activities and even spread terror. The public appreciates the various law enforcement efforts carried out by the security forces, including the arrest of the KST kingpin in Nduga-Papua.
The Nemangkawi Operations Task Force arrested a member of the Yakuhimo Armed Criminal Group, Yentinus Kogoya on the Paradiso Line, Dekal City, Yakuhimo, Papua on Tuesday 2 November 2021. Yentinus is a subordinate of the KST leader of the Nduga region, Egianus Kogoya and the leader of the Yakuhimo KKP, Tendius Gwijangge.
Ahmad Mustofa Kamal as Operations Public Relations Officer at the Yakuhimo Police said the arrest was based on a police report at the Yakuhimo Police Station. Ahmad said the arrests began when the team was on patrol in the Dekai area. When the patrol team received a community report that a member of the KST group was around the area.
After receiving a report from the community, the Nemangkawi Task Force team immediately moved and carried out a search around the settlement. While searching, Yentinus was seen riding a motorbike and was about to buy gasoline. At that time, the team immediately arrested him and took him to the Yakuhimo Police Criminal Investigation Unit for questioning.
Ahmad said after being investigated, Yentinus Kogoya, who is a member of KST Nduga and Yakuhimo and has been in Dekai City, Yakuhimo Regency, Papua for 4 years and works in a mine. At KST, Yentinus acts as a translator, liaison and social media handler.
In addition, Yentinus was also involved in a stone burning event at Kali Braza which was attended by the KST Yakuhimo group led by Tendius Gwijangge. During the arrest, the Nemangkawi Task Force managed to confiscate evidence, namely several bullets and several identity cards.
In October 2021, armed contact took place between the apparatus and KST in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua. The gunfight not only injured TNI soldiers, fragments of bullets also hit two children, one of whom died.
Kombes AM Kamal as the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police said in a written statement that at the time of the shootout, two children were with their parents who were doing activities around the house, thus becoming the target of the separatist group.
The child was late in getting medical treatment because at the time of the incident, there were no medical personnel at the location. Seeing this incident, the victim’s family wanted to take their two sons to the Puskesmas but the absence of medical personnel at the puskesmas made the family bring their child back home and in the evening the victim’s family reported the incident to the Sugapa Police.
In addition, the gunfight occurred on Friday, October 29, 2021. The gunfight took place at Bilogai Sugapa Airport, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency. Direskrimum Polda Papua Kombes Faizal Ramadhani, said that at that place there was a gun battle, KST also burned the ambulance that was there. According to him, KST was trying to mess up the security situation in Sugapa after the last few days of frequent gun battles.
Not only burning ambulances, KST million has burned one water tank car, one house and one building. After that, KST shot at the 521 Task Force Post and Brimob BKO personnel located at the Regional Secretary’s Housing of Intan Jaya Regency.
This series of chaos was regretted by Danrem 173/PVB Brigadier General Taufan Gestoro, because for the past year the conditions in Intan Jaya were quite conducive. The incident certainly made the TNI-Polri security forces tighten their guard and increase their awareness of the possibility of further attacks from KST.
With atrocities that clearly violate human rights, of course the state must be present with a clear goal, namely to protect Papuans so that they can live a normal life, without being overshadowed by terror and fear. When Papua returns to peace and conducive without conflict involving firearms, the government can calmly continue development on Cenderawasih Earth
Fighting and liberating Papua from various terrors and crimes against humanity by KST is a concrete manifestation for the state to protect the basic rights of the Papuan people.
The arrest of KST members deserves appreciation, it is hoped that the government can continue to hunt down KST members who often spread terror and disrupt development in Papua.
