The national capital will be moved to Penajam paser Utara, East Kalimantan. This transfer was approved by many people because it could abolish the Javacentric label because progress had to spread to various parts of Indonesia.
Indonesia has been independent for more than 70 years but there is little difference between Java and the other islands. The government is trying to improve so that there is no inequality, because it wants to act fairly, so that there is an even distribution of prosperity throughout the country. One way is to move the capital city of the country.
Ali Mochtar Ngabalin from the Presidential Staff Office stated that moving the country’s capital city (IKN) could stop the image of Java-centric development. In a sense, when the capital city is moved to Kalimantan, it will not only be built on the island of Java, but also in Kalimantan and other islands.
Equity must be done so that this country continues to progress. Imagine if it was only built in Java, then the people who lived there would progress. Whereas people in Kalimantan, Papua, and other areas also have great potential. Therefore they can advance when there is equitable development.
An example is in the field of education. Don’t let good schools and universities only exist in Java. However, in Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Papua, it is mandatory to build representative schools and campuses. Complete with qualified teachers and a complete library. That way, there is no difference between graduates in Papua and in Java because they are both intelligent.
When there is a Java-centric development, there will be many losses and can cause envy. Don’t let this jealousy trigger a conflict due to SARA. Therefore, there must be an even distribution of modernization throughout Indonesia, because the government implements the precepts of Pancasila, namely justice for all Indonesian people.
Indeed, since the Dutch colonial era, Java has seemed to be the center of the archipelago, especially since the capital was in Batavia (the name Jakarta in ancient times). However, we should not continue development only in Java, because if only the center is considered, a country will not progress. The legacy of the feudal era should not be swallowed whole.

If there is a relocation of the national capital, it is hoped that this rotation will also occur in other islands so that the economy is equally developed.
When the national capital is moved to Kalimantan, it will have a positive impact on the people of Borneo, because it can improve especially in the economic field. If the capital city is there, state palaces, government buildings, schools, big markets, etc. are built automatically. All of these will have a positive impact on the people’s economy because the North Penajam Paser area is becoming more and more crowded.
Progress has not only occurred in Kalimantan but also other islands, because the access is closer (if taken by sea or by air). That way, the wheels of the economy will run smoothly because it is closer to the national capital, and saves on shipping costs.
