Jakarta – The DPR RI Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), carried out a series of activities for the 44th General Session of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), namely run and ride at the DPR RI Building on Friday (28/7).
The chairman of the DPR RI BKSAP Regional Cooperation Desk, Putu Supadma Rudana, Chair of the RI DPR BKSAP Fadli Zon, Sukamta and Mulan Jameela were also present in the series.
“I would like to appreciate the Secretariat General of the DPR RI, including the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Bureau and Korpri DPR RI for preparing the entire series of events leading up to the 44th AIPA General Assembly, including initiating the Fun Run and Ride Road to the 44th General Assembly of AIPA,” said Putu Supadma Rudana
According to Putu, the AIPA General Assembly must be a valuable moment for Indonesia to strengthen the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the midst of emerging regional challenges.
“By hosting for the 7th time, of course we hope that Indonesia will be able to exert influence in both the ASEAN region and the Asia-Pacific region,” he said.
Putu said the theme being carried out at the 44th General Assembly of AIPA in Jakarta was a responsive parliament for a stable and prosperous ASEAN, whose concept is more towards green economy.
“The world looks at it from the parameter side of growth or economic growth. So, what is the role of a more responsive parliament to oversee the stability and prosperity of the Southeast Asian region where the green economy is the main reference. So the ASEAN parliament certainly has to work more comprehensively together,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani said that the DPR RI would push for the issue of gender equality in the 144th General Session of AIPA. He explained the importance of providing opportunities for women to play a role in various fields.
The need for awareness of equal access and roles for men and women in public life. Especially in decision-making positions, including in the world of politics,” he said.
The 44th AIPA General Assembly is planned to be held in Jakarta on 5-10 August 2023 and opened by the Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani. The activity will be attended by a number of parliaments of ASEAN countries.
