Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs: Don’t Be Fooled! Online Gambling is a Form of Fraud and an Infectious Disease Outbreak that Must Be Eradicated

Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan emphasized that online gambling, (judol) is a form of fraud. This statement was made to remind all Indonesian people who are still involved in online gambling games.

Budi Gunawan explained that this affirmation is part of the government’s campaign to educate the public about the dangers of online gambling. This campaign is carried out by the Online Gambling Eradication Desk in collaboration with various ministries and institutions.

“The joint desk will also intensify campaigns and public education about the dangers of online gambling,” said Budi Gunawan.

“That slots or judol are fraud. The public has been deceived by online gambling operators, the public is given the hope of winning in the judol game, even though the judol program has been set so that the public will definitely lose and cannot withdraw their money,” he added.

Budi Gunawan also stated that online gambling has become a serious problem, similar to an infectious disease outbreak.

“Of course, from the facts and conditions, this is very worrying and in an emergency. Furthermore, the Judol desk has and will continue to take legal action, including cutting and blocking online gambling sites, as well as blocking the flow of funds and implementing public education campaigns to prevent online gambling,” said Budi Gunawan.

On the other hand, the Directorate of Cyber ​​Crime (Dittipidsiber) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrested a fugitive in an online gambling (judol) case related to the W88 site.

“One DPO (wanted list),” said Dirtipidsiber of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji.

Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji said that based on the information gathered, the DPO would come from the Philippines. Previously, the National Police’s Online Gambling Eradication Task Force had also uncovered three gambling sites

“The National Police have succeeded in uncovering three online gambling cases with the first website being 1XBET, W88, and Liga Ciputra,” he said.

“From the three sites, a total of 18 perpetrators who acted as online gambling operators were arrested,” he concluded.
