Health Protocol Discipline and PPKM Obedience Solutions to Prevent Death Due to Covid-19
Handling the Covid-19 pandemic requires the cooperation of all parties. One of these ways is to remain disciplined in Prokes and comply with PPKM as a solution to prevent deaths from Covid-19.
A number of provinces in Indonesia are still recording a high number of Covid-19 deaths, said the spokesperson for the Covid-19 Task Force (Satgas) Prof. Wiku Adisasmito. Although the majority of the highest contributors are still on the island of Java-Bali, which is a level 4 PPKM area, Prof. Wiku asked the local government to remain vigilant.
On the occasion of the press conference, Wiku said, although Central Java, East Java, DKI Jakarta were still the highest contributors to the increase in deaths, they were also wary of East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Riau, Central Kalimantan and South Sumatra which were also the highest contributors to the increase in deaths. weekly. This figure should be an alarm to the local government because most of the districts/cities in the province do not undergo PPKM level 4.
In detail, the 10 provinces with the highest increase in deaths were Central Java which had an increase of 825 cases, East Java with an increase of 586 cases, DKI Jakarta with an increase of 510 cases and East Kalimantan which had an increase of 189 cases. Then there was DIY, which rose by 136 cases from the previous week, Riau with 58 cases, Bali with 53 cases, South Sulawesi with 48 cases, Central Kalimantan with 44 cases and South Sumatra with an increase of 43 cases.
Wiku also revealed that the number of deaths due to Covid-19 in July 2021 was the highest number throughout the pandemic. Deaths from Covid-19 in the last two weeks have increased by more than 1,000 cases every day. Even on July 27, 2021, there were 2,069 deaths in a day.
Meanwhile, the total number of deaths recorded from early July to 28 July 2021 was 30,168 cases. Wiku said the death rate was very high, considering that in June, the highest death rate was 7,913. Wiku also emphasized that there was still an increase in the number of deaths due to Covid-19 which needed to be evaluated.
Therefore, the local government and the community are expected to be able to support the prevention of potential deaths from Covid-19. Local governments can also always monitor the condition of hospitals in their respective areas.
Then, the regional government is also asked to anticipate the increase in Covid-19 cases by ensuring the availability of oxygen, medicines, hospital beds and health workers on duty. This can certainly increase the speed and accuracy of services so that deaths can be avoided.
Meanwhile, for the public, if you are in the group with moderate or severe Covid-19 symptoms, are over 45 years old, suffer from comorbidities and or do not have adequate space for self-isolation, we ask that you do not self-isolate alone.
Wiku recommends using a centralized isolation area provided by the government, treatment in a centralized isolation area is monitored directly by health workers, including vital signs, symptom patterns, diet and medication so that if something worsens, you can immediately get treatment.
On a different occasion, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin invited the public to continue to follow health protocols such as wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance. The implementation of the health protocol is the most effective way to prevent the transmission of the Covid-19 virus, especially a number of new variants that have entered Indonesia.
To anticipate that the new variant of the corona virus does not spread more widely, the Ministry of Health will be more intense in carrying out genome sequencing in a number of areas where the new variant has been detected. So that his party can take appropriate isolation steps or quarantine measures so that the new mutation virus does not quickly spread to other areas.
We cannot deny that in fact the public order in complying with health protocols has recently declined somewhat. The possibility of decreasing awareness of compliance with the health protocol is due to the saturation of the community during the pandemic.

Reducing mobility and staying away from crowds are small steps we can take to fight the pandemic, this must be done instead of lying in a hospital that is currently frantically looking for oxygen. The implementation of PPKM Level 4 accompanied by compliance with health procedures will certainly be a formula in reducing the death rate against Covid-19. If the policy is really obeyed by the community. (Adelia Rahmawati)
