JAKARTA – Political Communication Observer, Emrus Sihombing, assesses that the decision taken by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) by implementing Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in handling the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic is appropriate.
He said with different geographical characteristics in Indonesia, Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) and Regional Quarantine are options provided by Law Number 6 Year 2018 on Health Quarantine.
Large-scale social restrictions hereinafter referred to as PSBB are regulated in Article 1 number 11 while Regional Quarantine is regulated in Article 1 number 10.
“This PSBB is for the good of all to see the characteristics and geography of Indonesia,” Emrus said in a special dialogue “Support Government Policy to Overcome Covid Pandemic-19” in Jakarta, Tuesday (4/21/2020).
Emrus still explained, other policies as implementation of the PSBB were a matter of free electricity for underprivileged families, direct cash assistance was a form of responsibility that had been carried out by the Government.
Therefore Emrus invites all components of the community in the country to foster a spirit of encouraging success in handling the Covid-19 pandemic and rejecting obscure narratives.
“Then let us explore the facts, data and evidence. Reject hoak narration. Encourage positive messages and motivation. Refuse negative narratives that weaken. As well as encourage the spirit of creativity, discard the narrative of membonaskan because for example the PSBB work at home, worship at home, and remain at home, “he said.
These enthusiasm, according to Executive Director Emrus Corner, were shields of communication amid the Covid-19 pandemic. []
