The arrival of the holy month of Ramadan 1443 H, should be able to invite the whole community to always maintain a conducive atmosphere so that the course of worship becomes more solemn. Even various kinds of community organizations from various regions in Indonesia have also agreed to help maintain conduciveness during Ramadan 2022.
One of these shared attitudes was read directly at the official house of the Mayor of Padang, Hendri Septa on Monday, March 28, 2022. Also attending the event were several community leaders of Padang City by stating several main points. First, it is said that Padang community leaders will be actively involved in maintaining order and peace in the environment, especially in mosques or prayer rooms so that Muslims can worship solemnly.
The next point that was agreed upon was that community leaders would continue to monitor and supervise the younger generation so that they are not involved in other harmful things such as brawls, illegal racing, gambling, liquor, drugs, LGBT and other immoral acts. Then they also firmly reject all forms of activity that might damage the value of fasting and interfere with the solemnity of the community when carrying out tarawih in the month of Ramadan.
No less important, there is another point that was agreed upon by all of the Padang community leaders, that diversity or diversity in Indonesia must be maintained by all religious communities by continuously increasing tolerance between religious communities. Talking about tolerance and inter-religious harmony, the conduciveness during the month of Ramadan was also conveyed by Ir Wayan Dharmawa as Chair of the Indonesian Hindu Dharma Association (PHDI) of NTT Province.
He appealed to all Hindus to jointly maintain a conducive atmosphere so that Muslim brothers can carry out fasting in the holy month well and smoothly. Moreover, for him worshiping in the month of Ramadan is also a form of obedience and piety of servants to their Lord. In line with the PHDI Chairman’s expression, the NTT Hindu Youth Association (Peradah) is also committed to supporting the smooth running of all Muslim worship activities.
They collaborate with interfaith youth administrators to maintain the safety and comfort of Muslim brothers, starting from fasting to celebrating Eid al-Fitr later.
Similar to the declarations made by community leaders in Padang and also the inter-religious commitment delivered by the NTT Peradah, a number of community leaders in Pekalongan also made the same declaration. They are determined to create a safe and conducive situation ahead of the month of Ramadan. It was also said by Mukhozin as the Chair of the Pekalongan Regency FKUB that the month of Ramadan is a very appropriate momentum to be able to provide tolerance education to the community.
All levels of society, including those of different faiths, also enliven and are committed to jointly maintaining conduciveness during Ramadan. Because indeed Indonesia itself which consists of various backgrounds ranging from race, ethnicity, class, and also religion must show its identity through the motto that has been set by the nation’s founders, namely Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.
If these differences are able to make us one, then it is not impossible that we will become a very strong and resilient nation that will not be easily divided by any party. Don’t let the differences in background that we have become a weakness with the lack of tolerance between religious communities.
