The success of the Twenty National Sports Week or PON XX of 2020 in Papua, deserves the support of all the nation’s children, because in addition to being a national-level sporting event, this moment is also evidence of the close brotherhood and strong solidarity and unity within the NKRI frame.
Papuans are very enthusiastic in welcoming and even preparing for this event because it has a special meaning for them as part of Indonesian society.
Various Papuan crafts and culture will be present at the PON XX event. On the other hand , young talents will also emerge and become a concern for sports activists and hunters, especially as young Papuans are very famous for their sporting abilities .
In terms of infrastructure, there is no doubt. Papua had the opportunity to accelerate infrastructure development, where Indonesian President Joko Widodo ( Jokowi ) stressed that the construction of facilities and infrastructure ahead of the XX PON, must be maintained and utilized by the community even though this event had already been held. The form of equitable development or development that is centered in Indonesia has become very real in the eyes of the public.
The process of construction of venues un tuk PON XX is still running and will soon be completed. Minister of Youth and Sports ( Menpora ) Zainudin Amali, while reviewing preparations for the implementation of PON XX 2020, revealed that from the preparations of these few months and the remaining time of the next few months, overall, Papua was ready to host the PON 2020. Meanwhile, three new arenas which will begin to be built after the issuance of Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2020, is also certain to be completed before October 2020.
The Menpora asks all parties not to doubt anymore about Papua’s preparations, moreover the Indonesian National Police also participated in organizing this four-year sports event so that it could be carried out safely and coductively .
To note, the PON Executive Board (PB) will open registration for contingent athletes from all provinces in Indonesia, which will begin on Thursday, February 20, 2020 and determine the overall composition of the PON XX preparation in Papua. According to PB PON Papua Daily Chair, Yunus Wonda , Papua is ready to hold a prestigious sporting event at Bumi Cenderawasih, starting from sports venues, accommodation, consumption and others that have been presented by all fields.
The people of Indonesia and the international world will also see that the Papua province as part of the Republic of Indonesia, is capable of holding large events. However, of all the preparations, the proudest is the sense of unity and unity between the Papuans and the people of Indonesia as a whole. Therefore, let us together, support the success of PON XX in Papua.
