The efforts of the PUPR Ministry to accelerate Earthquake Management in Palu and Donggala
CIDISS. Central Sulawesi tragedy is sorrow for fellow nations. The grief was present when the wound due to the earthquake in Lombok had not been fully treated. This is what the government needs to do to deal with it immediately.
Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (Ministry of PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono continue the field review to Petebo and lead a meeting on emergency response measures which are the responsibility of the Ministry of PUPR. This was done after accompanying Indonesian President Joko Widodo for victims and earthquakes in Palu and Donggala and the tsunami in Palu City.
Basuki focused his personnel on the following: evacuation of disaster victims, provision of clean water and sanitation infrastructure and facilities, city cleaning from collapsed building debris, and connectivity issues. All steps begin Sunday night September 30 2018 so that today has been fully operational.
First, evacuation of disaster victims in Balaroa and Petobo, where in severe areas caused by earthquakes. It is estimated that there are still many people buried under the rubble.
For this purpose, 9 excavators in Petobo and 5 excavators in Balaroa will be mobilized from Sulawesi III River Region Hall (BWS), XIV National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) and BUMN and private contractors.
Secondly, the provision of facilities and infrastructure in the 80s of evacuation points and densely populated settlements. For this reason, starting Sunday night 30 September 2018, 3 dump trucks have been mobilized to transport 15 public hydrants (HU) with a capacity of 2,000 liters per second, as well as two mobile water tanks, 15 portable WCs and 10 emergency tents.
Third, in order to clean up the city, mobilized three dump trucks and two excavators. The Ministry of PUPR in collaboration with the City Government began to gradually clear the debris.
Basuki asserted, within the next 2 weeks at the latest, he will be finished with the appointment (city washing).
Fourth, ensuring accessibility ensures smooth flow of logistics to Palu City from the direction of Makassar, Gorontalo and Poso, such as repairing two bridges in Towalen and in Toyobo.
In addition, it also provides vulnerable places such as the Kebon Kopi area that connects the City of Palu with Parigi – Poso and the City of Palu with Gorontalo.
It goes to the way of the people of the other of the other of the other needs for emergency response after the earthquake and tsunami of Palu – Donggala with sincerity and empathy. We must be able to feel what the Palu community feels.
Finally, Basuki said that in every step of handling, both self-managed and contractual, always pay attention to regular aspects and also be accompanied by BPKP (Financial and Development Supervisory Agency).
We must appreciate the government in this regard. Several steps that have been taken before can be an answer that the response of the Indonesian government is good enough in dealing with disasters.
