Indonesia has received international trust to hold the G20 Summit. This momentum is a golden opportunity for Indonesia to show its ability to control the Covid-19 pandemic.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the G20 summit in Indonesia in 2022 could be a means of showing itself about the ability of the Indonesian people to control the Covid-19 pandemic and restore the economy.
He said that Indonesia must be able to provide the best service and appearance as the holder of the G20 Presidency in 2022. The former Mayor of Surakarta explained that Indonesia will also display various progress that has been achieved in the series of events of the 2022 G20 Summit.
In addition, as a pluralistic country, Indonesia will also display the nation’s cultural richness style. It also shows Indonesia’s leadership in the G20 Presidency later. President Jokowi hopes that the ranks of the central government, regional governments and the Balinese people will continue to work together to control Covid-19.
The President was happy because he received reports regarding the very high realization of the Covid-19 vaccination in Bali. He also admitted that he had received reports that 98 percent of Balinese people had received the first dose of vaccine and 79 percent had received the second dose. The acceleration of the Covid-19 vaccination is of course Indonesia’s capital in preparing for the G20 Summit as well as possible.
We also must not close our eyes that the development of the corona virus pandemic in Indonesia is starting to show an encouraging trend, where the number of daily cases on February 25, 2022 decreased to 49,447 from the previous 57,426 last Thursday.
In fact, the daily Covid-19 recovery rate last Friday recorded the highest record since the start of the pandemic of 61,361, surpassing the previous record on August 6, 2021, which had touched 48,832.
The trend of treating Covid-19 patients in hospitals until a few days ago was observed to be sloping at 37% of the total national capacity. This number decreased by 1% compared to the previous Thursday which was in the position of 38% from a stable average in the last five days since February 20, 2022. The downward trend in the treatment of Covid-19 patients nationally was also followed by a downward trend in the positivity rate in several regions during the 15-year period. -24 February 2022.
Meanwhile, Indonesia will also strive so that the G20 Presidency in 2022 can become an important part of responding to the concerns and anxieties of the world community by becoming a catalyst for an inclusive global economic recovery.
President Jokowi once said that the theme for this year’s G20 Indonesia Presidency is Recover Together, Recover Stronger. Where Indonesia will prioritize partnership and inclusiveness as well as provide a breakthrough platform in transformation efforts in various fields.
In order to achieve this, the Indonesian G20 Presidency will focus on three main priorities that are in line with national priorities and global conditions. The first priority is to reimagine the global health architecture to be more inclusive and responsive to crises.
The G20 presidency in 2022 in Indonesia is a testament to the international world’s confidence in Indonesia’s ability to handle the national economic recovery while at the same time encouraging the world’s economic recovery due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said, the theme of Recover Together, Recover Stronger reflects the importance of promoting productivity and resilience as well as stability as well as ensuring positive and sustainable development. These efforts will be supported by strong global leadership and a supportive partnership environment.
Sri said the purpose of this theme was to strengthen coordination and collaboration in financial and fiscal-monetary policies to promote joint recovery and no country should be left behind on the recovery path.
As part of the global community membership and also as the G20 presidency, Indonesia will take advantage of the momentum of this chairmanship to encourage global collaboration and cooperation. According to the Minister of Finance, as in a pandemic, climate change cannot be handled by one country even though they are the largest country.
The G20 Summit held in Indonesia is one of the moments that Indonesia can take advantage of to the world that this nation is able to handle the Covid-19 Pandemic which has become a global pandemic. This grand event is also expected to produce a concrete solution for the world to end the pandemic status.
