Government’s Strategic Steps Successfully Control Mobility During New Year
JAKARTA — The government has succeeded in controlling the mobility of the entire series of 2025 New Year celebrations with a series of strategic policies.
Starting from land transportation to air transportation, these steps have proven effective in supporting the smooth flow of community movement.
Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, revealed that his ministry has prepared more than 8 policies to regulate public mobility during the New Year period.
“The Ministry of Transportation has prepared approximately 8 policy bases in the form of Ministerial Decrees, cross-ministerial/institutional agreements, and decisions/instructions of the director general,” said Dudy in a coordination meeting in Jakarta.
This policy includes traffic regulations, restrictions on freight transport operations, and traffic engineering on routes prone to congestion.
The Ministry of Transportation also regulates operational restrictions on freight transport at strategic ports, such as Merak and Bakauheni.
Not only that, for sea transportation, the Ministry of Transportation ensures the readiness of the fleet and the division of ferry transportation routes.
The same policy is also applied to the aviation sector, by reducing airfares and increasing air transport capacity.
“In the air transportation sector, there has been a reduction in airline ticket prices, an increase in air transportation capacity and optimization of slot times according to demand,” said Dudy.
In the electricity sector, PT PLN also plays a role in supporting electric vehicle mobility.
PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, explained that his party increased the number of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) eightfold compared to the previous year.
“We increased the number of electric vehicles going home for Christmas last year, but we also increased the number of SPKLUs eightfold,” said Darmawan.
With this upgrade, PLN ensures that electric vehicle users can charge easily and safely throughout the journey.
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, added that the government is also preparing transportation facilities and infrastructure, including toll roads and facilities at airports, piers, and stations.
“We monitor every movement of the public through command centers and posts at points prone to congestion,” said AHY.
The government has also prepared rest points to anticipate extreme weather that could potentially disrupt smooth travel, especially on sea routes.
With solid coordination between various ministries and institutions, public mobility during the New Year celebrations ran smoothly and safely.
The government ensures that every aspect of transportation, from land to air, has been well prepared for the comfort and safety of the community. (*)
