Beware of Interest Groups Riding a Demonstration Rejecting the Perppu Ciptaker
Jakarta – A group of people are planning to hold a demonstration against the Perppu Ciptaker on February 28, 2023. This demonstration needs to be watched out for because it is prone to being ridden by interest groups and provocateurs which actually harm many people, because it creates traffic jams and has the potential to cause riots.
The Regulation in lieu of the Job Creation Law (Perppu Ciptaker) has been officially signed by President Jokowi in 2022. Even though it has been socialized that the Perppu aims to anticipate turmoil in the global economic recession, there are still a handful of parties who want to demonstrate. Demonstrations like this must be watched out for because they are prone to being ridden by interest groups who will achieve their goals without having to go through the trouble of demonstrating.
Around 66 civil society organizations that are members of the People’s Resistance Alliance will stage an action to surround the DPR RI building on February 28. This action certainly needs to be watched out for because it could be infiltrated by interest groups such as Anarcho and other groups who really want to disrupt the security situation.
For information, one of the bases for issuing Perppu Number 2 of 2022 concerning Ciptaker is that in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia which mandates that the purpose of forming the Republic of Indonesia is to create a society that is prosperous, just, prosperous and equally, both materially and spiritually.
In the midst of an increasing population in Indonesia, this country is of course still in dire need of quality job creation. In order to truly guarantee the creation of quality jobs, the Government issued a Job Creation Perppu to replace the existence of the old Ciptaker Law which was deemed conditionally unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court (MK) Decision.
In this case, the Main Expert for the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Fadjar Dwi Wisnuwardhani, in his statement firmly denied the existence of the notion that it was as if Perppu Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation only represented the interests of one party, namely entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, regarding the planned demonstration, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Nurul Azizah asked the workers to be more vigilant about the entry of intruders. This was due to intruders at the demonstration, so it is not impossible that it will cause chaos.
The National Police appealed to the workers to be able to continue to guard their groups so that the actions taken were not backed up by groups that would actually take advantage of the crowd to create anarchic things. In addition, he appealed to the masses who will express their opinions to continue to comply with the applicable regulations in accordance with Law Number 9 of 1998 concerning freedom of expression in public.
One of the demands of the 66 organizations that staged a demonstration on 28 February 2023 related to the postponement of the General Election was also considered counter-productive. In this regard, the Executive Coordinator of the International Humanitarian Activist Network (JAKI), Yudi Syamhudi Suyuti, rejected the postponement of the 2024 elections, in fact the substance of his demands would lead to delayed elections.
This means that demonstrations must be watched out for because there are many bad effects. Precisely if his request is complied with, it will cause chaos and postponement of the election as a domino effect. Therefore, the protesters are obliged to study state administration and governance beforehand, not to demonstrate directly with emotion.
If the demonstration continues, it is very prone to be ridden by interest groups who do not like government policies. This group deliberately infiltrated provocateurs so that the purpose of the demonstration could be diverted from initially rejecting the Perppu Ciptaker to becoming an anti-government demonstration.
What’s worse, provocateurs infiltrated by anti-government groups can incite the demonstrators and then riot, anarchy and arson around the demonstration site. Even though what has been postponed is not the presidential election but the election of regional head candidates and the decision has been approved by the Indonesian Parliament.
The public is asked to be vigilant if there are demonstrations held in DKI Jakarta or other areas. First, it will be prone to riots and traffic jams. Second, it has the potential to be infiltrated by provocateurs and can make demonstrators emotional.
The demonstrators should have been wiser and followed the rules. If they really don’t like a regulation, President Jokowi invites them to challenge it to the Constitutional Court. Don’t hold demonstrations that harm many people and hinder community activities, because many roads are blocked during demonstrations. Demonstrations that will be carried out by a group of people and workers must be wary of and even rejected. On the other hand, the security forces are getting tighter on guard so that the situation does not escalate and chaos and all its impacts can be minimized. Parties who disagree with the regulation are also expected to be able to think clearly and take legal action in accordance with applicable regulations.
